Conclusion: Ugh! Not another 'Scary Movie' movie. When will it finally end? This is by far the worst, dumbest, and least funny of the lot. After sitting through this insult to intelligence and all of comedy in general, I am now working diligently to erase all memory of Ashley Tisdale's current mediocre popularity. The Blu-ray, on the other hand, arrives with excellent audio and very strong video. Rent this at your own risk!
Excerpt: To call this film a disaster would only serve to compliment it further, as the worst received films seem to attract the most attention. Monstrosities like Disaster Movie and Epic Movie have adorned our cinema screens over the last couple of years expecting us to guffaw in unison at the complete lunacy at what we are seeing.
Excerpt: Scary Movie 5 is not completely devoid of laughs. In fact, there’s probably the same amount of chuckles to be had in this sequel than in your average marginally funny, somewhat passable comedy. Unfortunately, the ones here are surrounded by so much shit (sometimes literally) that it’s hard to muster up anything more than a half-smile. Scary Movie 5 doesn’t just have some groan-worthy jokes, it has some gags so awful they barely qualify as attempts at comedy.
Excerpt: The Scary Movie franchise, like the Seltzer-Friedberg empire of garbage it spawned, traffics in timeliness. But in this ADD-addled Internet age, it’s impossible for a studio comedy, even one as hastily and shoddily assembled as Scary Movie 5 , to be truly timely. The Charlie Sheen/Lindsay Lohan joint cameo that made headlines a while back can’t help but look like rehashed tabloid junk mere months later.
Excerpt: The opening sequence of "Scary Movie 5" sets the tone, signifying the epitome of rock-bottom for the 'stars' at its centre. Just when the franchise couldn't possibly squelch any further into the depths of cinematic depravity, this latest offering insults us with a 'dumbed-down version of stupid stuff'. There's almost a sense of desperation as a series of painfully unfunny skits are force-fed to the audience in a feeble attempt at comedy.
