Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition

BluRay Authority
28 January 2012
  • Excerpt: A group of airmen have been shot down and captured in a dense, remote Central American jungle, which makes a rescue quite difficult. But an elite squad of commandos has been assembled, one that has never failed in a mission. In the lead is Dutch Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a tough as nails soldier who never backs down from an enemy, no matter how outmatched or outnumbered he is.

Predator

Rock! Shock! Pop!
12 February 2011
  • Excerpt: Widely considered, and rightly so, to be one of the absolute best and most manly of late eighties action cinema, Predator was a box office smash thanks to the amazing star power that Arnold Schwarzenegger's name carried at the time. This was a time when Arnold's name was equated with box office gold and it seemed he could do no wrong.

Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition

High-Def Digest
8 July 2010
  • Conclusion: John McTiernan's 'Predator' is a fun and entertaining creature-feature which revels in its animated machismo and an exuberant display of graphic action. The movie is a surprisingly well-structured blend of genre conventions which draws viewers in with one set of expectations and abruptly changes pace for a suspenseful thrill ride. This new Blu-ray comes with a video presentation that's shockingly worse than the first release, and the audio is the same as before.

Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition Review

DoBlu
6 July 2010
  • Excerpt: You can’t run from the Predator. That may sound like a bad poster tagline, but it works. In a genre where running away from whatever alien/government experiment/radioactive menace is the norm, the Predator tosses that away. Sure, it bleeds so you can kill it, but it takes more than running, more than macho brawling, and quite a bit more than gunfire to take it down.

Predator Review

DoBlu
25 May 2009
  • Excerpt: While somewhat confusing and lacking narrative coherence on its own, the original Predator spawned countless pieces of canon. With that knowledge in tow, Predator is many things: a classic Schwarzenegger movie, a classic creature feature, and a classic ‘80s action flick all wrapped up in 100 minutes of gory fun. Recalling numerous Vietnam films, Schwarzenegger leads a cast loaded with WWF wrestlers, Rocky villains, and fellow politicians.

Predator

High-Def Digest
11 April 2008
  • Conclusion: 'Predator' is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's better extravaganzas (his dialogue is kept to a minimum), and also one of the few '80s action flicks that holds up quite well today. This Blu-ray is a bit too meat and potatoes. The video and audio are solid if not spectacular, and there are no extras of note. This one gets the job done, but for $39.99, I really expect more.
