Excerpt: The title says it all. I couldn't find a single thing to enjoy in this mess. But a story about stupid people is in the end, just a story about stupid people. I completely agree with Jim L, watching the news beats this.
Summary: Definitely something out of the norm compared to Michael Bay's more recent movies. Rather than focusing on huge explosions and other large action set pieces, this one is largely focused on it's crazy story that is based on actual events. For a film that's part comedy, I found that the humor often failed to connect. Still, despite that this is one that is still worth a watch thanks to it's Definitely something out of the norm compared to Michael Bay's more recent movies.
Excerpt: I know a lot of people don't like Michael Bay films, but this one needs to be given a chance. It is a very different movie than the Transformers pictures for example, and that was what i loved the most about it. This is clearly not a film for everyone, but those who like dark humor and are not afraid to try films that really push the envelope (since this Action/Comedy was based on a true story) will really enjoy this ride from beginning to end.
Excerpt: I would highly recommend renting this first. This was just a "money-making" film for Bay. He was like here I'll give you a dumb film that has Bad Boys II meets Old School... An action film with very nice visuals and good actions scenes in Miami with 3 friends with a scheme to become bigger than what they are. Was it as funny as Old School? Hell No! It was a movie trying too hard to be funny but had its funny parts.
Excerpt: Movie: 4.5 A true story movie that's directed by Michael Bay, you know after the nightmare of a film that was Pearl Harbor everyone said that Michael Bay should never do a movie based on true story ever again and I thought the same. So when I saw the trailer for Pain & Gain and I saw that it was a Michael Bay movie and I felt weird about it, it had a great cast and was very tame in action compared to the Transformers movies so I decided to do some searching about it.
Excerpt: from the opening credits to the closing moments we are told that this story is true. What follows is the most outlandish , bizzare, royally fucked up events in Miami-Dade County history. A trio of body builders thus played here by Mark Wahlburg, The Rock and Anthony Mackey get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong. Tony Shaloub plays the victim.
Excerpt: I actually liked the movie and i was entertained from start to finish. I loved the colors, the humor, the action and the story. Def. not Dwayne Johnson's and Wahlberg's best performance but it was fresh and dynamic. I loved the stripper and her silly accent and just was different than other Michael Bay movies.. I recommend it to give a chance for this one.
Excerpt: Normally I like Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson in most everything thing they've done, but this was the worst piece of trash I've seen in a long time. Glad it was only a rental. Couldn't finish it, had to quit after 25 minutes. Really, what is going on in the last couple of years? It seems like studios are just following a formula: pick a couple of big name actors, add some explosions and some expensive CGI and voila! Instant ca$h!
