Excerpt: This film will certainly get your patriotic juices flowing, and it's for that reason that Olympus Has Fallen is without a doubt one of the more satisfying films of 2013. Its plot is preposterous and borderline unbelievable, but thanks to a really great cast, you believe (almost) every bit of it.
Excerpt: Tell me this. How is it that a mediocre Gerard Butler vehicle is closer to a proper Die Hard sequel then the actual freaking Die Hard sequel? Honestly it would be more accurate to call this a Die Hard remake then a sequel. The plot is almost identical to the 80’s classic. I know that there is a Die Hard rip-off coming out almost every year (often two or three,) but they are rarely ever as blatant as this.
Excerpt: Olympus Has Fallen (2013) After a tragic accident, Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) has been taken off the Presidential Detail and has been given a desk job. Banning finds himself trapped in the White House, just as it is invaded by terrorists and the President captured. Now Banning must use his Special Forces training, along with his Secret Service knowledge to rescue the leader of the free world.
Summary: I saw this as a "preview" movie this week. It officially comes out next Friday. Very intense, lots of violence. The North Koreans take the president and other officials hostage inside the White House. It was hard for me to buy - lots of protocol breaches that would not happen in real life. Some good acting by Morgan Freeman & Gerard Butler, but the actor who plays the president (Aaron Eckhart) was horrible! Bad acting and bad casting since he never seemed "presidential".
Summary: Can't decide whether its just a "How To" Guide on Attacking the White House, or whether its "Die Hard At The White House" but without the dry comedy Bruce Willis would have brought. An ok movie if you don't have any inkling on how the military actually operates, don't mind endless gruesome deaths, and a very predictable plot. Not a first date movie. More a "wait till its on TV type movie". Sorry. Its average.
Summary: I had low expectations going in to this but was pleasantly surprised with what a basic tough guy action film it is. It moves at a fast click, never milking any strand more than it should. There is a bit of 'God Bless America', but a small price for what is an unashamed action romp. Butler, also, has never been as likeable.
Summary: If you dont mind the american propaganda, god bless america and 'our forces are the best in the world' kinda thing then its a good action flick. Simply story with plenty of blood to go around and a Rambo style, take on all enemies by a lone soldier.
