Summary: O.K. I realize I'm one of the FEW (no disrespect!) that thought this movie was a soggy sack of state fair cheese curds! I've seen (almost) every movie Richard Geer and Debra Winger ever made and this (to me) stinks like royal blue--cheese.It isn't Geer,Winger,Lou Gosset Jr. or the supporting cast, it's the story and the script.
Excerpt: An Officer and a Gentleman has endured over the years as a cinematic classic that certainly didn't start off that way nor did anyone is Hollywood want to make it in the first place. But when fresh talent both in-front and behind the camera all gel, then the naysayers are all diminished when the final product is up to the audience to decide.
Summary: it took over a month to get the movie, I will never buy again from you. was also supposed to have free shipping but got charged. in answer to the bottom line i recommend the movie, but buy it somewhere else.
Excerpt: First time I've written a review on here but this disc was so surprising and satisfying that I felt I had to comment especially after reading "headhunters01" review. This really is a great picture - it totally captures the look of an 80s movie without it being too 80s - if that makes sense. The colours were great, the clarity very impressive - it all looked completely natural and real. I don't think you could ask for any better of a film that's 30 years old.
Excerpt: One of the best, if the not THE best, catalog releases of the year, this one is a no-brainer. The guy above who gave the video *** is clearly not qualified to render an opinion (even though, of course, he's entitled to one, bad as it is).
Excerpt: I don't know what headhunter01 was watching, but it sure as hell couldn't have been the same disc I did. Colors are bland? Doesn't sound 5.1? A little better than the DVD? That is the kind of untrue propaganda that keeps people from buying a terrific transfer like OAAG. And it IS terrific! Colors are vibrant and bright (take one look at Foley's sweatsuit and tell me that it's bland..and I'll tell you that you're blind or that you need a new TV!).
Excerpt: One of my favorites. Its fun to watch and reminisce my basic training..This one I remember the DI's rolling in a tv cart with a vhs copy of this after graduation to let us watch...Anyway..I was hoping for a better transfer..It's a little better than the dvd, but nothing really sharp..Colors seem to be a little bland...Audio is front speaker heavy.
