Summary: No Country for Old Men was an amazing adaptation of the book by Cormac McCarthy. (I've actually read the book. That's why I can say that) The story was great, and the actors were extraordinary (mainly Javier Bardem).
Summary: Situated near the Mexican border on the Rio Grande, a hunter finds dead bodies, heroin, and a stack of cash, in which trouble ensues the discovery. No Country for Old Men is a brilliant film that it is hard to hate. the acting and the writing superb.
Excerpt: Zwaar bizarre film. Aanrader!
Summary: First time i saw this i loved it.something unique about it, no soundtrack at all during the movie... as in backround music ! it keeps your attention, and you feel like you are watching something great.
Excerpt: Yes, by the title you may take away I didn't like No Country For Old Men. While it certainly didn't deserve its Oscars, and the status it holds now, there are aspects I enjoy of it. The way the film's script unfolds is just pure genius. It seems more like an observation of a story than a story. Almost everything has already happened by the time Sheriff Bell studies the situations, and when we are in the shootings and events, the Coens have me at the edge of my seat.
Excerpt: Don't listen to the people giving it crap reviews, this movie is amazing. It's not full of action or anything but it still is great. Javier Bardem was a great villain and everyone else gives a performance as well. The cinematography in this movie is beautiful, I don't really say "wow those were some nice shots" but this whole film was shot perfectly. I loved the whole movie until the end, i was like wtf it just ended abruptly. I still love this movie though.
Summary: When it comes to great moving films that hook you up from the beginning to end, The Coen Brothers have it all. No Country For Old Men is so good you will clap at the climax, you will remember this movie for the rest of your life.
Summary: The Coens really have never directed a film like this, then or since. No Country is a nihilistic neo-western that deals with grave themes of morality and inevitability. The familiar cast of odd supporting characters is there, but the Coens sidestep a lot of their penchant for absurdist comedy in lieu of a more serious and urgent tale of greed and obsession. Javier Bardem is the embodiment of fate itself and crafts a fearsome movie villain for the canon of great villains.
Excerpt: A Texan welder stumbles across the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong and helps himself to the $2 million in cash no-one is left alive to claim. Unfortunately he does not count on a single minded psychopathic killer with a tracking device...This film basically distills elements of all their best work and creates a cold and cynical statement on the state of man.
