National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

BluRay Authority
28 January 2012
  • Excerpt: When the name “Griswold’s” comes up, everyone automatically thinks of Clark and Ellen (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo respectively)…then they think of their own family and how the two must be one and the same. That’s one of the enduring appeals of the “Vacation” series of movies, it appeals to most everyone who has ever been on a trip from Hell.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Blu-ray Review

  • Conclusion: National Lampoons Christmas Vacation has cemented its status as one of the funniest Christmas movies ever, and it has tremendous replay value. There is hardly a scene that won't bring a smile to your face, and it is well worth your holiday movie watching time. This Blu-ray edition sports mediocre video and audio quality, but Christmas Vacation wasn't a slick, expensive blockbuster to begin with, and what we have is adequate for this film.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

DVD Talk
11 December 2006
  • Excerpt: Over the years, the National Lampoon's Vacation series has become something of a cultural landmark, although I can't fathom why. Chevy Chase's Clark Griswold is too out there to be an everyman, Beverly D'Angelo's Ellen Griswold is too hot to be a normal housewife, and the situations they get into are too outrageous to ever happen in real life.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

High-Def Digest
5 December 2006
  • Conclusion: 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' is considered by many to be a modern holiday classic. I like a lot of the movie, but it can also be rather hit-or-miss. I'll always prefer the original 'Vacation,' but this one is still way better than the Griswold's European and Vegas adventures. Unfortunately, I can't say much for this Blu-ray release. It is just as lackluster as its HD DVD counterpart.
