Offensive & Statistically Incorrect.

Phillip Nelson, blu-ray.com
12 September 2014
  • Excerpt: Upon seeing this film in theaters, it took me a moment to finally write a review. Not because of its critically acclaimed “astounding” and overvalued cinematography, but because of its absent and insensitive portrayal. One could be offended on how they embellished and inflated the truth on Norma Jean, Marilyn Monroe. Not only was this film statistically and improperly incorrect (in many formats), but it is misleading and inadequately depicted.

For Marilyn fans

Chrysagon, blu-ray.com

  • Excerpt: Marilyn Monroe is, without any doubt, the sexiest and most glamorous star Hollywood has ever produced. MWWM is a well done biopic that gives some insight into Marilyn's personality and insecurities. No one can duplicate Marilyn's presence and beauty on screen, but Michelle Williams is to be commended for taking on this difficult role and playing it well. Actually, everyone played their roles well.

My Week With Marilyn

Lies, videoland
24 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Mooi gefilmd, zeer realistisch gespeeld. Marilyn lijdt, als zoveel ware sterren. Dit is groots te beleven in de film. De film neemt je mee naar een andere wereld. Een wereld waarin film nog magisch was en roem een mysterie.

The Mystery

purple rain, Zavvi

  • Summary: My Week with Marilyn is a huge fairytale of the greatest mystery in Hollywood. With two great performance from Kenneth B. and Michelle W. Both of them are overwhelming, powerful and irresistible. Throughout the movie the look of Williams seemed to be filmy, unclear, like she is adventuring somewhere else in her mind. What can a week show from a person? Not too much you can be sure but somehow the movie gives something more.

Michelle shines..........the rest of the film less so.

  • Conclusion: Based upon the two books written by Colin Clark about his time spent as an assistant on the set in 1956 of 'The Prince and The Showgirl' this is the story of his week with the beguiling and beautiful Marilyn Monroe.

'BELIEVE THE WRITE UP'S' ---IT IS A VERY GOOD MOVIE'

rbmusicman, play.com
28 March 2012
  • Conclusion: the film,a true story, is based on the writings of 'colin clarke' who in 1956 stumbled upon a position, lowly as it might have been, as a production assistant during the filming of 'the prince and the showgirl' starring 'lawrence olivier' and 'marilyn monroe' it tells the tale of an insecure 'marilyn' and her natural ability to draw in the admiration of those around her.

Held together by Williams

  • Summary: Just three of us saw My Week with Marilyn and we are unanimous in our praise for this movie. Based on a true story, this is a snapshot of one week in the remarkable life of Marilyn Monroe, during her time in England for the filming of The Prince and the Pauper. It is a sentimental journey for those of an age who grew up with the Marilyn Monroe phenomenon, boosted by some great musical choices.
