Excerpt: I'm keeping this one simple. Jeff Nichols is one of the best directors currently working. Shotgun Stories is an impressive low budget ($250k) debut, Take Shelter was one of the best character studies and psychological drama's ever made in my opinion and obviously stands as one of the best films of the decade. Here he has done it again. The only thing holding this film back from a perfect score in the main review was the climax which I disagree with.
Excerpt: Gave this a rent and was pleasantly surprised at how good the film ended up being. The well seasoned cast and the two boys who play central characters all do a fantastic job. The plot plays out in the same fashion as Stand by Me in the essence of friendship, loyalty and trust. The settings of the film on the river banks of the Mississippi add to the tone which helps add to the dramatic effect of past, present and future.
Echoes Mark Twain's Love for The Mississippi River

Excerpt: 'Mud' is a beautifull contemporary coming of age film that delivers on all levels. McConaughey gives arguably the best screen performance of his career, surrounded by a wealth of talent on all sides. A very well written and directed southern tale that echoes Mark Twain's love for the Mississippi River. Easily recommended.
Excerpt: I adored this film. The southern setting, the characters and the wonderful and exciting story truly makes this the best film I have seen so far in 2013. The Blu-Ray looks very well done and almost flawless to my eyes and I found the audio to be true to source and very lush throughout the film. The featurettes were in-depth and while brief, they brought an interesting insight to the film.
Summary: The picture quality was PHENOMENAL, this is so far the best written movie of 2013. Tye Sheridan was great, Matthew Mcoughnehey was amazing and Reese Witherspoon was pretty good. Highly recommend.
Summary: McConaughey at his best!!! Sahara really got me into his movies, action, grit, cunning and a little humour. In this film we see a darker side, a more survival inspired character with flaws. A character that grows and matures and becomes a likable rogue the whole time remaining in mystery. The younger actors do a brilliant job alongside the bigger stars, really is one of McConaugheys best yet!!!
