Summary: Maybe it's because I only heard bad things about this film. Practically every review said "disappointing," "skip it," etc. So I got the DVD not really knowing what to think. I really liked Haute Tension and I like Kiefer Sutherland. Though the trailer made this look like Jack Bauer and Kim stop a mirror terrorist attack. But once the opening credits started (with that great pre-credit scene), I was hooked.
Excerpt: What a horrid film!! I was expecting more from this film as the concept seemed solid but the execution is sorely lacking. Was every character in this film lifeless as the people behind the mirrors? Ok, this is not a pretty picture. Not sure if it was grain or noise but what I can tell you is that i've not seen such an unattractive picture since watching MIAMI VICE and for those who've seen that film in the low light scenes know exactly what I mean.
Summary: I love when a movie really makes my hair stand on end, this one did it for me throughout. There are so many twists and turns, and the ending was very unexpected. All the characters were believable and Kiefer Sutherland's performance as the inwardly tortured ex-cop teetering on the edge of insanity was excellent. If you rent this, definitely view the unrated version, I yelped out loud a few times.
Excerpt: This film has one of the best death scenes in a horror movie that I've seen in a while. Other than that this movie was lackluster at best. Hard to believe Jack Bauer would be dumb enough to torture himself throughout this film with his stupidity.
Excerpt: Mirrors was huge surprise. I had an extra $30 and i was looking to see which BD i should pick up and i was glad i picked this up. Alejandro Aja makes some pretty gruesome films like High Tension and Hills Have eyes....there is plenty of gore and scares in this movie. A remake of a korean horror flick, i was impressed. I've seen the korean one back when i was in s.
Excerpt: a decent horror movie on BD. This was pretty well a blind buy last night, but from the previous reviews, I was somewhat familiar with everything. Keifer might not be a "Young Gun" anymore, but he was awesome in this movie. IMO, the PQ was really nice, and I didn't have any problem whatsoever with grain. The AQ rocked as well, in fact, it was very noticeable throughout. I haven't watched all the extras yet, but I liked what I've seen so far.
Excerpt: I didn't know anything about Mirrors but I love horror movies so I bought it. I'm glad I did. In my opinion, it's a really good horror movie and for 3/4 of the movie, it was a great horror/thriller movie. Once you know what's going on, it changes a little and I thought it went a little over-the-top but it still kept me tense and it was still very entertaining. The movie also made me jump a few times and that always makes it more fun.
