  • Summary: Based on the long running comic strip about a great dane Marmaduke doesn't do any better job of converting its source material than the ill advised Garfield movies. Yes, younger viewers will probably quite enjoy the sight of a talking dog getting himself into all sorts of predicaments, but any adults stuck watching it with their kids will soon find themselves bored by the recycled plot and predictable jokes.

  • Summary: Its not all bad, and its a heck of a lot more fun than Alvin and the Chipmunks 3. Owen Wilson was a good choice for Marmaduke's voice and the story is harmless fun.

  • Summary: I just saw this movie for the first time. I came to it with an open mind willing to be entertained. I have to admit that it was a good family movie that it is paced well and tells a simple story. Not full of of slapstick joke, but it has a very refreshing predictable and simple plot and easy to follow. A great movie for discussing family values and what loyalty, love and friendship is all about and the dynamics of it. Good family movie . . .

Surprisingly better than expected

  • Summary: In short, the CGI talking dogs was done extremely well, even carrying on through nuances found in most dogs - head-tilts, twitches, etc. Typical past CGI attempts practically demanded that the subject remain still while the effects are applied. So, I have to give very high marks to the special effects. The Marmaduke character is very likable as are most of the ensemble here.

  • Summary: This movie is an extremely predictable story about trying to find your place in high school, the difference? the teenagers are dogs, while it does have it's funny moments, it's not all that entertaining, only young children will enjoy this movie, and not all of them, know what your getting into before you watch.

  • Summary: If you watch the live action Garfield film, you must think "surely this is the worst film involving a live action animal as the star"? Not anymore, it isn't Marmaduke is a dull film about a live action dog, where the humour is mainly dancing animals and farting. Oh, and William H Macy getting knocked over. Twice. I know, the film is intended for children, but seriously?Kids like this garbage?

Talking dogs provide corny but wholesome family entertainment

Turfseer, IMDb

  • Summary: Since I'm a big dog lover (and I loved 'Beverly Hills Chihuahua'), I had great expectations for 'Marmaduke'. It's based on a well-known comic strip but isn't as intense as 'Chihuahua'. The plot focuses on Phil, a marketing consultant, who moves his family from Kansas to Orange County, California after being hired by Don Twombly (William H. Macy), owner of Bark Organics, a new age pet food company.
