Excerpt: A retired black ops killer for hire is pulled back into the business when his friend is held hostage by an oil sheikh seeking retribution against the SAS for assassinating his sons. On the surface of it, Killer Elite is very much an example of business as usual for Jason Statham in what appears to be just another bone-headed but watchably efficient, testosterone-fuelled action thriller.
Summary: It is OK... - watchable. I am not sure what Robert de Niro is doing here :)). Also it is set in the early eighties, but Jason Statham looks like nineties action movie star, the rest look like eighties porn stars. It is slightly amusing..
Summary: Killer Elite has your typical Statham action fleshed out with an intriguing plot of an army cover up in Oman. Statham does what he does best, Owen provides good support as the main adversary and De Niro looks like he’s having fun which is only fair after the career he has had. The pace is frenetic to start but gets a little bogged down in the middle. The film seems like it is going to end 30 mins before it actually does which makes it feel overlong.
Excerpt: The image has a very slightly "soft" filmic look to it, but nonetheless delivers an extremely detailed image. I really could not find any faults with the PQ. Audio was also top notch, delivering rich clear dialogue and when the action demanded it, an incredible DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 experience. Sadly limited in extras, we get thirteen deleted scenes, making up approximately 10 minutes of footage, and presented in HD. And that is all.
Summary: Even though a movie is not necessarily bad, sometimes making snarky comments while watching it will make it more entertaining. Killer Elite was that kind of movie for me. At a key point where a third party enters the scene and starts belittling the two spies, all I could think about was, "...he starts MONOLOGUING!" We all know how that pans out. Killer Elite was good with the action and car chases.
