This is my favorite Blu-ray concert to date and I have many!
26 February 2010
Excerpt: I wasn't a huge John Mayer fan till I saw this and realized what he could do with a guitar, I hope he continues this type of music and drops the more pop sounding crap! It has great audio tracks but being that I use a PS3 I could not send the English: LPCM 2.0 (96kHz, 24-bit) track to my outboard DAC. The PS3 cant send English: LPCM 2.0 (96kHz, 24-bit) optical yet, lets hope there will be some audio firmware updates soon so I don't have to buy a Oppo bdp83.
Excerpt: I didn't know John Mayer before he played on Michael Jacksons memorial concert. I liked what he did there, so I though I would give this Blu-ray a chance. I think it is great! Really nice performance, great music, good picture and great sound!
Excerpt: As a big fan of John Mayer, Where the Light is is an excellent blu ray. I actually saw him this past Sunday night and to be honest, the blu ray sounds better than the actual concert did, as far as sound quality. The video is pretty good but with any video where blacks are the dominant color in the background, it really leaves a lot of little things exposed and I tend to find that certain artifacts get lost.
Excerpt: I thought this was an excellent film. I've waiting for this Blu to be released and it didn't disappoint. It was great to see the three different performances as acoustic solo, trio and full band. It's also cool that it wasn't a rehash of Any Given Thursday, containing mostly more recent material. Shot on film and has the look. Deep blacks and lovely grain. No complaints here. The best part is the audio. TrueHD at its finest. Clear, full, and rich.
Excerpt: Whether you're a JM fan a musician or just love good music you should pick this up. I loved the way they segmented the acoustic, trio and band portions of the video - it's not just your average push & play then the concert it has a nice flow to it from beginning to end with set-up dialogue from John as to how each group comes about. The PQ is a good as any concert BD's out there and the audio is terrific!
Excerpt: I don't claim to be a huge John Mayer fan, but I enjoy some songs. Picked up this Blu mostly because it was only 15 bucks at BB. Its got a good track list - 22 songs total, so he's not putting out a cheap show. The video in between sets while driving around with John Mayer is good, but PQ is a little lower for the majority of the concert. Audio quality is good, but cannot comment on the trueHD audio track. There aren't many extras on the disc.
