Excerpt: About a decade ago, MTV (back when they were still actually playing music videos) had a show called “Jackass.” In it, a group of near-do-well twenty something’s played practical jokes on one another and seemed to have a grand old time doing so. The show became a cult hit and a few years later “Jackass: The Movie” was born. As we might expect from a television show making the leap from the small screen to the large – the stunts were bigger, as was the budget.
Excerpt: 3 times the laughs. 3 times the action. 3 times the pain. The Jackass guys are back for their wildest round of mischief and mayhem yet! You'll laugh 'til it hurts as Knoxville goes head-to-head with an angry bull, Bam stumbles through a tunnel of high-voltage tasers, and Steve-O takes to the skies in a fully loaded porta-potty.
Excerpt: Remember in Idiocracy when the movie parodied modern TV shows with Ow! My Balls? It was a satirical look at what we watch where a guy was continually bounced on his crotch, screaming, “Ow! My balls!” every time. Well, Jackass was the inspiration. No one can praise the show/movies for its massive contribution to human kind, film as an art, or general decency, but damn it, there’s something viscerally funny about watching someone have a teeball batted into their crotch.
Conclusion: Not as good as the first, but better than the second, 'Jackass 3/3D' is a fun return trip to the well, that has a nice mixture of fun moments, revolting shock humor, and some nice mean spirited assholery that makes up the show. This one may be the most "extreme" of the bunch, so just get ready for some brief moments of clothing being less than brief. This Blu-ray release has good video (all things considered), surprising audio, and a nice pile of extras.
Excerpt: The Movie We live in uptight times, so do I really need to explain the allure of two grown men in their underwear (and bear hats) playing tether ball with a loaded beehive? The flesh-and-blood cartoon characters of Jackass 3 manage to take bull horns, dog bites, scorpion stings and every imaginable sort of impact in stride.
Summary: It seemed good on paper. Different strokes for different folks, one man's trash is another man's treasure, and so on and so forth. To some, Jackass 3 will no doubt represent the pinnacle of Comedy, a time capsule-worthy piece of cinema history that's to be cherished for all time and lauded for its brilliance as an unparalleled representation of early 21st century humor.
Summary: After an extended hiatus, the Jackass boys return to the big screen and they’re much the same as you remember. Well, Steve-o is sober now, but in regards to the type of entertainment you can expect, it’s business as usual. There are plenty of violent slapstick stunts and gags to make you laugh and wince, often at the same time. Plenty of gross out humour too if that’s your thing.
