Summary: The advancement of CGI means that those fairy tales of old can be brought to life in stunning reality and this is no different. Jack and the Beanstalk is a classic and this with a slight twist and change to the story is a compelling watch. Stanley Tucci's nasty Roderick is great, while Nicholas Hoult as Jack plays the role with the lightheartedness you would see at a pantomime, and indeed fits in well with the film which doesn't go down a dark path.
Summary: I like this film mainly because the special effect is great, the story is good and an excellent performance by Ewan McGregor who stole the show playing the character Elmont. There is just one problem - which is Jack who is supposed to be a poor peasant boy, but he has a public school boy look with squeak clean skin, manicured fingers and coiffeured hair.
Summary: I wasn't sure what to expect from this film but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fairy story for adults. There were some good strong actors in the film and they played their parts with conviction. The story is famous with Jack climbing the beanstalk. This time though he is trying to save the princess' life and has to battle with nasty 'orrible giants who want to destroy the kingdom below on the earth. Jack also has to deal with a traitor in the King's court.
Summary: Great re-telling of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story but with a lovely twist that brings the Giants back to earth. Jack the Giant Slayer is squarely aimed at the teen audience but with enough spectactual special effects to keep many adults happy too. The 3D is very natural and easy to watch.
