Ice Age: Continental Drift

  • Excerpt: The "Ice Age" franchise finally runs out of steam with this mediocre entry into the series. While it may entertain younger fans, adults will likely be bored by it.

Ice Age: Continental Drift Blu-ray Review

  • Excerpt: The Film The Ice Age film franchise seems to be lasting longer than the actual Ice Age. It's actually a lot more successful, too, given its cuddly characters and the $2.8 billion box-office take. That's probably why Fox can't seem to crank these things out fast enough. That wouldn't be all that bad if Ice Age: Continental Drift had a nice message about friendship, family, or even climate change.

Ice Age: Continental Drift (Blu-ray Review)

  • Excerpt: The arrival of a new Ice Age film is not something that initially thrilled me.  I enjoyed the first film in the series, but was let down by the sequel, which led to me not even bothering with the third entry in the franchise.  Still, given the opportunity to see this latest entry, ‘Continental Drift ’, I figured, “Why not?” and decided to go for it.  Fortunately, I found this latest Ice Age film to be enjoyable.

Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D Review

DoBlu
13 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Ice Age began life with Manny, Sid, and Diego on adventure through dated CG landscapes. To imagine this series with only three key characters anymore is a dream. The new faces are coming in clusters now, some ingenious as Grandma sloth voiced by Wanda Sykes and others that clog the landscape, i.e., pirate crew of Continental Drift . This franchise is a marketing machine; imagine the level of action figures created for each entry and then subsequently dropped.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

  • Conclusion: It really is time Fox stop producing 'Ice Age' movies. From a creative standpoint it's obvious that the well of ideas ran dry a long time ago, but seeing that it made a ludicrous worldwide box office of $874 million, Fox will no doubt make like DreamWorks and run this franchise into the ground. However, if you're looking for another CGI demo disc to add to your collection then this will be a great one to pick up. Both the audio and video presentations are stunning.

Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
12 December 2012
  • Summary: A new Ice Age is upon us—the fourth in ten years. It kind of makes you wish for some expedited global warming or a mass extinction event. I jest. (But not really.) While the CGI animation in 20th Century Fox's cash-raking franchise has improved drastically over the past decade, the storytelling hasn't, plateauing with the second movie and then steadily dropping off from there.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Cinema Blend
13 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Ice Age: Continental Drift isn’t a bad movie. In fact, it’s better than I expected. The animation is vibrant and just the right level of detailed. Directors Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier have a way with angles, always choosing just the right perspectives to make the pictures pop and the action frenzied. A hurried sense of danger runs like an undercurrent through the film, and the plot works fairly well as an adventure story.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

AV Club
12 July 2012
  • Excerpt: Preceded by a Simpsons short shot in 3-D—perhaps the only thing more superfluous than a fourth Ice Age movie— Ice Age: Continental Drift finds a retinue of vaguely contemporaneous animals coping with life in the post-Pangaea age. The core Ice Age cast—wooly mammoth Manny ( Ray Romano ), sabertooth tiger Diego ( Denis Leary ), and sloth Sid ( John Leguizamo )—are set adrift, sailing the high seas on a chunk of ice until they collide with a bellicose primate ( Peter...

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

  • Summary: If you’re not expecting any surprises going into Ice Age 4: Continental Drift 3D then that’s probably the best approach. OK, there is one literally earth-shattering moment as the film gets underway, but besides setting in motion the dramatic shifting of land masses, this fourth instalment of this animated prehistoric franchise in just ten years doesn’t set out to shake anything up.
