Dreamworks' best animated film yet

Indyfreak, FilmCrave
  • Excerpt: This is Dreamworks' best animated film to date. It's even better than Shrek, Shrek 2, and the Kung Fu Panda movies. It's vastly superior to the original movie as well and that was already potential classic material for future generations. The story, the animation, the character development, and the size of everything that happens onscreen is unlike anything that Dreamworks Animations has done before.

Training's Over

Snoogans, FilmCrave

  • Excerpt: 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' is a solid sequel. It has a mostly good story, amazing animation, and a rather sweeping large scale. However, this time around I was not as invested. I never grew attached to the characters the first time around, so when the dramatic moments reach higher ambition I was not as enthralled. A couple of those moments were predictable. Also, the human villain lacked any personality and served minor purpose.

Best Animated Film in a Long Time

Looneymanthegreat, FilmCrave

  • Excerpt: How to Train your Dragon may go down in history as one of the greatest animated films of all time. It’s pacing is perfect, its stakes are high and its story is almost seamless. It’s actually considerably better then the first How to Train your Dragon. It’s even better then other modern Disney animated movies like Frozen and Wreck-it-Ralph.

  • Summary: I die a little on the inside when a favourite film of mine has a sequel announced, so I was feeling all happy when this film lived up to all the rage. I giggled along with the ten-year-olds sitting behind me in the cinema. It was truly the perfect sequel. For all the animation and family movie lovers.

How to retrain your Dragon

RealityCheck, Flicks
25 June 2014
  • Summary: How to Train Your Dragon2 I enjoyed it, but again this movie based on book by Cressida Cowell is hitting all the right notes, yet feels like its in the wrong key :-( Don't get me wrong I loved it, although I did find the first better. With mixes of 'Fern Gully', 'Toy Story', 'Frozen' with loving friendships like 'Iron Giant'. Loved the flying scene, totally worth the 3d experience just for that.
