Summary: This Green Lantern film is a series of quick stories being told by Hal Jordan to the new G.L. recruit, all while they wait for the appearance of a giant formidable enemy (saved for the finale). The individual stories give more expansion to the Green Lantern mythos. Each one details the origins of various G.L. characters from all walks of the galaxy. They are swift and action packed. Not one of the better DCU Animation, but a decent entry nonetheless.
Excerpt: For fans who are curious this story does not connect at all to the FIRST FLIGHT animated movie from a year earlier. However this story does not retell how Hal Jordan became Green Lantern as that much is established right from go. This time around the story focuses on the group of lanterns as they battle a singular foe while Green Lantern himself more or less narrates the tale which will annoy true fans and bore others.
Summary: If you are new to the Green Lantern universe, this is a great way to meet some of the main characters and get to know them like never before... other than that, it's rather disappointing. After a great opening, the connecting sequences to the 'supposed' main story, are rather short and really don't do anything other than interlink the character stories.
Excerpt: This movie was pretty neat, it is basically an origins story of other Green Lanterns. The pq was beautiful and the audio is great. We have a ton of special features on here, that are all pretty great. Commentaries and inside looks make it pretty awesome. Overall, I would recommend this to Green Lantern fans, however if you already know the origins of Green Lantern members you may find it repetitive. I however, didn't know the whole back story, so it was totally worth it.
Excerpt: The story is pretty good but weaves through 6 different characters so instead of getting Hal Jordan for most of the film, you get a bunch of other origins (Kilowog, Abin Sur, etc) which is good or bad depending upon how you look at it. Video is solid as is audio but neither is stellar. There is a lot of extra content as usual with DC comic films.
Excerpt: I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I'm a big DC fan and have never really enjoyed the DCU Animated features because they detract so much from the source material. I was excited for this because I'm a huge GL fan and hated First Flight so I thought they'd redeem themselves. Nope. It was worse than the first one. They completely butcher GL. It ruins every memory I have of the characters and their stories. The six segments are not interesting whatsoever.
