Excerpt: An obnoxious and misanthropic dentist dies on the operating table and when he is revived finds he can communicate with the dead. Ghost Town is most definitely the Ricky Gervais show, which is no bad thing. Although it's got all the hallmarks of the rom com - the TV sitcom montage acoustic guitar soundtrack, the inevitable love interest and the over reliance on schmaltz to resolve the story - but it also is full of Gervais' trademark wit and one liners that will be...
Excerpt: Blind-buy as I'm usually a big Rom-Com fan. This rather quirky movie starts off slow but picks up around mid-mark. PQ is decent; nothing special, but certainly not bad. AQ is good as well, but since a Rom-Com not expecting 'Whoa'-sounds. Would recommend this movie as a rent.
Excerpt: I blind bought this one, and watched it for the 2nd time last night. I truly like this movie, as it's different from the usual Rom-com, with some very cool moments in it, witty dialogue, and a great cast. I love Tea Leoni. Greg K. is great too, and so is Ricky Gervais. I recommend getting it.
Excerpt: Ghost Town, a Mr. E Movie Review (Run time: 102 min. - Directed by: David Koepp - Starring: Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear, Tea Leoni) Ghost Town, starring Ricky Gervais is a comedic love story mixed with a little of the after life. Ricky Gervais plays a great character who does as all good characters do and evolves perfectly throughout this movie into someone better.
Summary: I really liked Ricky Gervais here - his dry, British wit is perfect for a surly dentist who hates the world. The plot was too predictable with some great moments, but overall standard. Still, if you're a fan of Gervais, it's worth a look.
Summary: This movie was boring and typical. It is basically the sixth sense of comedy or Ghost, which stories have already been perpetuated throughout movie land more times than deserved. The ending is left open with endless possibe outcomes, when the movie needed some sort of closure: which man did she choose? We will never know?
Excerpt: Starts off kinda slow but picks up around the middle. I thought the ending was very good and really bumped the movie up from a 3 to a 4. PQ is decent. Nothing special but certainly not bad. AQ is good as well. I certainly would recommend this movie as a strong rent. A feel good movie for sure.
Summary: Ricky Gervais does a lot with this formulaic, but enjoyable comedy about a Scrooge who finds love with the help of ghosts; the sentimental moments don't quite work, but it's consistently fun to watch.
