Cool set, just not exactly complete
Cody, Warner Bros
8 January 2014
Summary: This set is pretty great for anyone who didn't already own these films on blu-ray. Unfortunately, it isn't as complete as it rightfully should be. It does contain all of the films in the Friday the 13th franchise, but it really should have uncut versions of every film, and more special features. To be called the "Complete Collection," it should be totally loaded with all of the best special features from every individual release of every one of these films.
Excerpt: Well finally the rest of the Friday the 13th films have arrived on blu but, of course, not without some controversy. First yes the packaging is of the cardboard sleeve variety that can cause discs to scratch or otherwise develop surface imperfections. However I have not experienced any such things yet with this set and given that blu rays are scratch resistance I will not worry too much about it. Could Warner have housed the discs in let's say an amaray case instead?
Summary: The only real disappointment is the lack of the Unrated JASON GOES TO HELL, but that's a minor issue compared to being able to own all of these titles on Blu-Ray (and let's be honest, another, possibly more complete set, is unlikely). It's a great gift and an excellent value.
Excerpt: A lot of great horror franchises like Halloween, Phantasm and Texas Chainsaw will never have box set releases like this (at least in North America)…yet here we have all 12 Friday the 13th films together and all I keep seeing on horror websites is complaining. Why? What were you expecting? If you're upset these aren't all uncut releases, well, sorry to burst the bubble but they haven't existed since before the MPAA got their hands on them.
