Excerpt: This is one of the better disaster films. Good acting and decent storyline. Picture is a little grainy but suits the film good, kind of holds it to its time. Audio was good. Features were non existence. Would have liked to have seen a feature on the minitures they used. Give this a good recommend.
Excerpt: By far one of the worst looking BD's I've ever purchased...I saw this movie 9 times in the theater...once as recently as last year...and this is NOT how the film is supposed to look...Horrible OVER sharpening and skies in the film SWARMING with what look like misquitos....Sorry all you grain lovers but just because a movie came out in the 1970's it does NOT mean it's supposed to look like this...SHAME ON YOU UNIVERSAL...I've already given my copy away..
Great Disaster... but where are the specials features?

Excerpt: Universal... what do you've done? No question: the DISASTER "Earthquake" ist one of the best ever made. The story great, the acting is great, the actors are great (Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, Lorne Green, Richard Rountree, George Kennedy, Victoria Principal... (yes, its the YOUNG world famous Pamela Ewing from the long time running hit "Dallas") and even Mr. Walter Matthau in a Cameo is fun to watching.
Excerpt: This was one of those great disaster films along with Poseidon Adventure, towering Inferno and Airport that had many famous actors involved. The title is self explanatory and follows he usual pattern of someone predicting a disaster and no one else believing them. Great special effects for it's time considering there was no CGI! The video quality is okay, but not the greatest as Universal's catalogue titles are a hit and miss proposition.
Excerpt: back in the 1970's the disaster movie genre featuring Hollywood's biggest stars crammed into a 2hr movie was all the rage in cinema and with each successful entry i.e. The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, Airport and this one Earthquake the human factor in peril was successful. With the likes of Heston, Greene, Kennedy these guys knew how to save others as well as themselves from certain doom.
Excerpt: Well it has finally arrived and in my opinion the wait was worth it. Obviously the 'quake' parts of the movie are the stars rather than those trying to make a terrible script work, and here some good news 5.1 dts hd very well balanced with a good but not perfect .1 track. Lets be honest you can't recreate real Sensurround on a home system, I was at the European premiere at Londons Empire Theater in 70mm.
