Double Indemnity

Slant Magazine
31 July 2014
  • Excerpt: An accepted classic and archetypal film noir, Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity is visually drab and flabby around the edges. Its seamy tale of murder is not layered in any way; what you see (or, in Wilder's case, hear ) is what you get. There are several rude, unexpected jokes that punctuate the film's languor: When insurance agent Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) first sees flytrap-blonde Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck), she's standing on top of a staircase in a towel...

Double Indemnity

BluRay Authority
15 April 2014
  • Excerpt: Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) has found success in the insurance business, but he has become bored with lifestyle. But a little excitement creeps in when he least suspects it, as part of a routine visit to renew a client’s insurance. He makes a stop at the home of a client to get some papers signed, only to find he isn’t home, though his wife is. She is Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) and he finds her in only a towel, sitting on the stairs.

Double Indemnity Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
9 June 2012
  • Conclusion: This wonderful release of Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity , the definitive film noir, should have a reserved spot in the library of every serious film aficionado. I think that together with Georges Melies' A Trip to the Moon it makes 2012 the most exciting year since the high-definition format was launched. I also have to say this: It would be a crime if Universal Studios did not release Double Indemnity on Blu-ray in the U.S.

Double Indemnity

Känn på den här: "I wonder if I know what you mean." "I wonder if you wonder." Ok, det blir mycket bättre i filmform, men ändå ...
