  • Conclusion: Optimum Home Entertainment continue to produce very strong Blu-ray releases of classic and important contemporary films. Bravo! French director Kim Chapiron's Dog Pound is one uncompromisingly brutal, disturbingly realistic film whose star, Adam Butcher, is simply irresistible. I can't say I enjoyed Dog Pound , but I was definitely impressed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Did you find this review helpful?

  • Excerpt: Dog Pound fittingly begins with dramatizations of its three key characters' imprisonable offences, then ends on the easy, if universal, symbolism of an open door being slammed shut by a riot policeman. The space between shows whatever individualism the film's teen criminals had when they entered Enola Vale (the facility in which the action takes place), violently crimped into generic suffering by the one-size-fits-all "solution" of juvenile correction.

  • Conclusion: Visceral and inquisitive, this well researched movie offers a punchy insight to prison life. Unfortunately, it is a familiar and tepid storyline.
