Summary: Dazed and Confused very accurately portrays the whole "teenage wasteland" of the 70's, I'll give it that, but it ultimately has no real plot or any real end. It swerves back and forth between certain key scenes without actually going anywhere. But, it is one very entertaining movie for what it is.
Summary: Dazed and Confused is a great teenager film with the movie following the life of soon to be seniors and freshmen in highschool the day school ends for the summer. The seniors haze the freshmen by hitting them on the ass with a paddle and no adults seems to care they even laugh about it which is funny becuase they would be arrested if that happened nowadays.
Summary: I loved this movie I was told it was great but I never had the urge to check this movie out, and I am really glad I did. It was a blind buy for me on Blu-Ray and I am so glad that I picked it up because I will be able to watch this movie over and over again. It wasn't a laugh out loud comedy say like The Hangover but it was just so funny as a movie as a whole with so many memorable scenes.
Excerpt: I remember seeing Dazed in the theater. Actually in an old-school movie house with thick red carpet and cheesy lamps. Laughed and had so much fun we brought another friend to see it the next weekend. Ahh Good times X) So bought the Flashback DVD when it first came out and have watched it countless times. Albeit no great extras could be found. Another stunner by Criterion. Picture: Clear as can be with nice grain texture. Colors look natural. No crush during night shots.
Excerpt: Bravo to Criterion...I have the older bluray version and the Criterion version blows it out of the water. The clarity is amazing. This is the best its going to look. Just go and buy it. The packaging is awesome and unique.
Excerpt: Hands down, I have seen this film more than any other ever made. I've watched it nearly once a week since I first saw it over 5 years ago. Its certainly not for everybody, with its spacey and unfocused story and large collections of characters. The dialogue is snappy and authentic, the actors are (mostly) dead on in all places. I love this film, its makes me laugh and feel good each time I watch it.
Summary: I think this is the first movie I liked concerned with the "last day of school" type scenario. A cast of actors that (for the most part) you never hear from again but are perfect for their roles in this movie. A little revenge, a little reminiscing, a little weed/indulgence during a time of innocence and absence of responsiblity.
The Best Movie About High School That I've Seen...a Classic
31 May 2012
Excerpt: DAZED AND CONFUSED is a perfect movie, a hilarious slice of life about a group of Austin, TX kids' last day of school, either junior high or high school. Everybody who's ever gone to school of any kind will recognize themselves in one or more of the characters Linklater creates, and the situations he presents. The comedy is interlaced with a bit of darkness, and the uncertainty that the characters feel regarding their future feels real.
Summary: Fantastic movie. The movie is really about nothing, just the last day of school before summer but it just has that swagger. It has a ton of noticeable young faces that go on to have bigger and better careers. One of the most fun movies I've ever seen.
Excerpt: A Richard Linklater classic finally hits blu, and finally gets a Criterion release. Anyone who went to high school in the 70s I envy very much, especially after seeing Dazed and Confused. When a movie opens up with Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" you know you're in for a treat! Dazed and Confused is about a group of high schoolers from Texas on the last day of school in 1976.
