Curse of Chucky

BluRay Authority
6 January 2014
  • Excerpt: I’m always surprised when a new horror film is released. Just when I thought the Child’s Play films were over for good, we get Curse of Chucky . The mistake I made was thinking that any horror movie killer stays dead for good. Chucky has been burned, shot, chopped up and various other things, but somehow he still comes back. I do find it amusing that the films at least have continuity. In the past two films Chucky’s face has various scars and stitches around it.

Curse of Chucky (Blu-ray Review)

  • Conclusion: So I guess what it all boils down to is how big of a Chucky fan are you?  If you are like me, then you have to have it!  If you’re a casual fan, perhaps maybe a rental at first would be safer than an expensive blind buy.  However, one thing’s for sure…well okay…there’s three things.  The audio, video and extras here are all well worth the price of admission.  You just need to figure out is the film up your alley or not.  It felt really safe to me.

Curse of Chucky

DVD Talk

  • Conclusion: It's certainly not a perfect film, but Curse of Chucky is surprisingly good considering it's the fifth sequel to Child's Play and didn't receive a theatrical release. Director Don Mancini takes the franchise back to its horror roots, and Brad Dourif again provides the voice of murderous doll Chucky. A few scenes run too long and Chucky is off screen for much of the film, but Curse of Chucky moves the story forward in an interesting way.

Curse of Chucky

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: Chucky is back to his old deadly tricks with a sinister glee and a macabre, menacing twinkle in his smile. Written and directed by Don Mancini, 'Curse of Chucky' may be the first in the franchise not released theatrically and going straight to home video, but thankfully, that's not a sign of its quality and ability to deliver some delightfully fun and twisted horror, making it a great sixth installment to the series.

Curse Of Chucky
