Collision Earth Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
21 November 2013
  • Conclusion: Collision Earth is a completely irrelevant end-of-the-world Disaster movie, but it's not without a sliver of purpose. It's suitably entertaining, filling a niche for a movie, albeit a rather low-end movie, in the recent craze of all things TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It). It's no Deep Impact , but it has neither the budget nor, thankfully, the ambition for that.

Collision Earth (Blu-ray Review)

  • Conclusion: Collision Earth is a film that premiered on the SyFy Channel.  So right up front, you pretty much know what you’re in for.  There’s a wonderful charm that comes with their original movies that you either get or you don’t.  I get a tickle at how hard and ambitious these super low budget films try to get.  The cheap CG work is also a hoot in a lot of these films.

  • Excerpt: My first exposure to a Syfy original movie was JERSEY SHORE SHARK ATTACK. Aside from the ropey cgi I remember vividly thinking - this is dumb fun. Why all the hate for Syfy productions?

  • Excerpt: Collision Earth is the latest disaster offering from Syfy. It tells the [THRILLING / TERRIFYING / TEDIOUS] story of a brilliant space scientist named James (Kirk Acevedo, Fringe ) who's been ostracized from the space scientific community because of his [CRACKPOT THEORIES / RESISTANCE TO AUTHORITY / UNPOPULAR OPINIONS REGARDING A DECOMMISSIONED ORBITAL FORCEFIELD].

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: 'Collision Earth' might be considered marginal fun if one were surrounded by a group of inebriated friends who were in the mood for making fun of crappy SyFy Original Movies. Other than that, I can't see a situation where you could possibly want or need to see this. Just avoid this one and save a few bucks.
