  • Conclusion: Though I'm not crazy about what's followed it, I maintain that Cars is a great film offering Pixar's patented blend of top-notch storytelling and artistic animation. It's a movie that belongs in your collection, but just once.

Cars 3D (2006)

  • Conclusion: Cars may not have been originally built for 3D, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have what it takes to compete. With an excellent 3D experience, first-rate 2D and 3D encodes, a fantastic Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track, and a solid assortment of special features (among them two audio commentaries and an hour-long production documentary), Lasseter's 2006 road adventure still has plenty to offer anyone who isn't too quick to dismiss it.

Cars: Ultimate Collector’s Edition

BluRay Authority
22 October 2013
  • Excerpt: When it comes to computer animation and movies, there’s really only one that I even pay attention to. Pixar. They were really the first out there and, in my opinion, really make the best animated films. I will say that the Shrek movies are an exception, but time has proven that the Toy Story movies along with The Incredibles really make it hard to top. The only Pixar movie that I’ve never seen is Finding Nemo which is supposedly the best of the bunch!

  • Excerpt: With so many digitally animated cartoons out these days, a return from the pioneer of the genre John Lasseter is easily the most anticipated entry in an ever saturated market. After all, it was Pixar who gave life to Woody and Buzz in "Toy Story" (1995) and "Toy Story 2" (1999), showed us "A Bugs Life" (1998), found Nemo, formed "Monsters Inc." (2001) and wowed us with "The Incredibles" (2004).

Cars

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: 'Cars' may not reach the same emotional heights as as a 'Finding Nemo' or a 'Toy Story,' but it's still an utterly charming and beautifully animated film that's sure to delight kids and adults alike. This Blu-ray release -- one of Pixar's first-ever on the format -- is fantastic, too. The video and audio are both first-rate, and Disney really has gone all-out to ensure that this Blu-ray breaks the mold when it comes to exclusive content and interactivity.
