CARRIE in a good transfer, but no extras to speak of...

Excerpt: Stylized horror classic by Brian DePalma get an okay Blu-Ray treatment. I disagree somewhat with the official review of CARRIE here. The transfer shows fine detail throughout and, although grainy in many scenes, I always prefer this authentic look to a heavily DNR'd treatment. It looks like FILM, and is enjoyable as a result. Audio is good, but sadly the only extra is the trailer (hardly rating as a "bonus feature").
Summary: "There going to laugh at you". Shy, isolated Carrie White has an embarrassing experience in the girls' shower at school, at the same time discovers budding psychic powers. As one girl reaches out to her at school, another plans a bloody revenge at the school prom not realizing the devastating consequences it will have. This movie shows what happens if your bullying a girl that has super powers.
Excerpt: I saw this in other formats. I am only reviewing to say, that this movie is way better than the remake. I saw the remake in theater, and man the mother was so annoying, that I almost left the theater. I would get this Blu-Ray over the remake one any day. I never got to see any bullying in my High School back in the days of 1989, but hearing about it just bugs me that people think its cool to do it. Bullies need professional help.
Excerpt: I dont like remakes very much, in fact I avoid them when I can, but there are a few I do like and this is one of them. I think this Carrie is much better then the original. PQ and Audio is very good and the extras were also good. This was a blind buy and in the end worth it in my book.
Summary: First off, if you can find the Blu-ray DVD edition in your price range BUY IT ! I am seeing movies I have that I wish now that I had paid a bit more for Blu-ray DVD. I did not see it in the movie theatre but wanted to see how it compared to the first one. This one Carrie seems to use her hands more than the original but it brought back bad feelings of high school bullying. But she does get revenge. I am glad I have this movie in my DVD in my collection.
Excerpt: First off, this is not a horror film at all. It is a movie set in this time which is about high school and bullies. Today all we hear about on the news is about how someone bullied another student to make them kill themselves or shot someone in school or whatever. This movie is not scary at all and simply focuses on the character of Carrie and how other students treat her. That simple.
Excerpt: For a remake, this wasn't bad...I liked the alternate ending better, it was closer to the original. I usually don't care for remakes or reboots...But this one wasn't bad at all. I think the feel of actually having teenagers playing the parts rather than adults playing teenagers as in the 1976 version with Spacek and Travolta..This was definitely updated to the 21st century with cell phones and computers being added to the story..
Summary: If this is not one the worst remake/films of all time, I don't know what is. Awful acting, Poorly done special effects that are far too fake looking and unrealistic, and it's a pretty much a shot for shot remake of the original with nothing different about it aside from a **** cast. Do not bother with this garbage. Watch the original instead.
