Excerpt: Reminded me a lot of 1992's Innocent Blood with a sexy vampire feeding on the scum preying on the weak. Breaks a lot of vampire conventions while creating new ones. Byzantium is a quality production with creative cinematography, fluent direction and honest acting by several name actors (hello Jonny Lee Miller aka-Sherlock from Elementary!). The score is very appropriate too. Slow pace that fits the original story.
Excerpt: Zeer goede vampierenfilm!
Summary: I was interested in the sort of rules that were involved with these types of vampires and found the history of the characters and their choices to be the backbone of the movie, when it came to the final act of the movie the pace picked up which was good but I thought the characters made some strange choices.
Summary: As the title suggests I wasn't too sure what the movie was about other than it had vampires in it, which I am a sucker for (no pun intended). This film is more of a period piece, not your typical vamp film. I found it quite slow in places yet it kept enough of a secret for me wanting to know what was going to happen next. It was definitely a film with more than meets the eye.
Summary: It's not a boom, boom, shake the room type of movie with fangs and blood galore, although the latter did feature. I was mesmerised by the story line; the human aspect to it and the differences between mother and daughter. I really enjoyed it and was entertained, which is really what it's all about.
Summary: So refreshing to see a vampire film for adults after all the junk that's come out the last few years, this one being a bit of a slow burner but really sticks with you afterwards, much in the same way the director's other fang flick Interview With The Vampire played out. This one might require a little front end investment on the viewer's front, but ultimately will leave mature audiences satisfied, or not, I expect, like the best films, this one may end up polarizing.
