Excerpt: This is a fantastic movie as simple as that I have watched it so many times and never get tired of seeing it. Now there is no dought that this blu-ray is an improvement and worth a double dip even if you own the DVD like I do. The picture quality is pretty good throughout but never really outstanding but for a movie that's twenty years old this is probably the best your ever gonna see it.
Summary: Very realistic coupled with a solid cast of Fishburne, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Angela Bassett. Believable performances and fantastic direction. A few memorable lines: Furious Styles - "Any fool with a dick can make a baby, but only a real man can raise his children." Doughboy - " Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in the hood." Boyz n the Hood delivers the drama and effects of vices.
Excerpt: Flat out, Boyz N the Hood is one of the greatest movies ever made and is by far the best movie to showcase The life of young black men in the inner city's. If your a fan of the movie or even if you've never seen it this is a must buy. The pq was good for a 20 year old movie with a pretty low budget. it's a true masterpiece and if you respect good story, great acting and directing then pick this up.
Summary: A heartbreaking and gritty portrayal of life growing up in a crime-ridden South Central neighborhood. The acting here is powerful and effective and John Singleton's debut directing job may be his best so far. The tone captured here is unforgettable.
Summary: A strong contender for the most under-rated movie. I think a lot of people believe this to be a very different movie to the one it actually is. It's a drama. A very strong drama, which sure, it looks a little dated now, but the drama still works wonderfully. The actors, even Ice Cube pull off a remarkle feat of keeping it all very real and not overly emotional, in a film that could have been a sentimental mess.
Summary: Great directing and a stellar cast give this stark portrayal of inner-city life a sense of realism that is both breathtaking and heartbreaking. This type of film got popular in the 90s, but I think this is the best out of the bunch.
