Bolt 3D / 2D (Blu-ray Review)

whysoblu.com
2 November 2011
  • Conclusion: This is a very enjoyable movie which is made even better by this excellent Blu-ray set.  The 3D is very good with only minor but frequent ghosting present, and an amazing surround mix.  While the extras could have been better, this is still a great Blu-ray to pick up and one that the whole family will enjoy!

Bolt 3D Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
2 November 2011
  • Summary: If Academy Award-winning filmmaker and Pixar-mastermind John Lasseter's 2006 promotion to Chief Creative Officer of both Pixar and Disney's animation studios proved anything, it's that the universe really does have a sense of justice. Even though Pixar was prepared to divorce from Disney and primed to become its own entity, Lasseter somehow nabbed everything he wanted and deserved for his brainchild, solidified his company's standings within the studio, and inherited the...

Bolt

BluRay Authority
30 September 2010
  • Excerpt: The first Disney Animation release under its new head, Pixar’s John Lasseter is “Bolt.” With the Pixar pedigree (but not the studio), “Bolt” has a lot to prove for Disney. Incorporating Disney Digital 3D technology, the film looks to push the envelope of what can be artistically achieved with animation. But can it match the Pixar reputation for quality story lines and — dare we say — heart?

  • Excerpt: "Bolt" stars the voicing talents of Miley Cyrus and John Travolta , and I have to be honest, I never thought I'd say I enjoyed a film with either of these two in it. Travolta has done some good work but his recent films of late have been rather lackluster, and Cyrus just doesn't make it onto my radar because I don't the description of her demographic.

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: 'Bolt' surprised me. My expectations were admittedly low, but this is a fast-paced, funny, and sometimes inspired little adventure and a nice piss-take on Hollywood. It may not be ultimate-Pixar stuff, but it's worth checking out. This Blu-ray boasts top-tier video and audio and a nice package of extras. 'Bolt' is recommended.
