Summary: A futuristic premise of Gotham City with an aged and heftier Batman. Well voiced and fairly paced. The soundtrack adds to the dark premise. It also introduces a new Robin, which this rater is familiar since a copy of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel.
Excerpt: Frank Miller's epic Dark Knight Returns story finally gets to be seen and heard in this original Warner Premiere animated movie. Summary: I own the original graphic novel by Frank Miller, so I had high hopes that DC would do a faithful job adapting it. Fortunately for everyone, they did. This is a great adaptation, and I found myself enjoying the film as if I had never read the book.
Pros: Engaging Characters, Entertaining, Great Adaptation, High Production Value
Summary: The most psychological and violent of all the Batman animated films I've seen thus far. This boasts a cool, gritty story and exciting action. Great lead-in to the second part. Completely enjoyable for any Batman fan! Not for the very young.

Excerpt: The Dark Knight Returns is widely regarded as one of the greatest Batman stories ever told, but was it a wise move for DC to adapt this story to the animated medium? Personally I would have to say that it was.
