Batman Begins

BluRay Authority
28 January 2012
  • Excerpt: Watching “Batman Begins” really made me rediscover what it’s like to see movies based on comic books are all about – dark and scary and fun. Of the recent films that have been made from comics, only a few have stood out to me as being truly good and entertaining. I can’t get enough of the “X-Men” movies, “Spider-Man” is a bit overrated in my book and until I saw “Batman Begins”, that was about it.

Batman Begins

14 April 2009
  • Excerpt: "Batman Begins" does two very welcome things. One, it restarts the Batman movie franchise. Two, it proves the claim that you need to switch your brain off when seeing a blockbuster was just a refuge for the talentless hacks churning out moronic explode-a-thons. The bar has been raised. Let's hope future blockbusters rise to the new challenge.

Batman Begins

Sound & Vision Magazine
15 March 2009
  • Excerpt: It was with some trepidation that I watched this movie. After all, Joel Schumacher and Akiva Goldsman did their incompetent best to ruin the franchise for anyone who can sound out the word h-a-c-k-s. I shouldn’t have worried. Christopher Nolan knows his stuff and made a movie that is the equal to if not (dare I say it) better than Tim Burton’s classic.

Batman Begins Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
10 July 2008
  • Conclusion: Part of what makes Batman Begins succeed is the way it focuses on Bruce Wayne's psychology and motivations. The film carefully and chronologically documents how he goes from frightened and orphaned child to the ruthless caped crusader. While Bale is excellent in his portrayal of Bruce Wayne, he seems tentative in becoming Batman.

  • Conclusion: I can't decide whether the giftset or standard BD release are right for you--it depends how much you like comic books and memorabilia--but I hope everyone with a Blu-ray player understands that they need this film in their collection. Part of what makes Batman Begins succeed is the way it focuses on Bruce Wayne's psychology and motivations. The film carefully and chronologically documents how he goes from frightened and orphaned child to the ruthless caped crusader.
