Excerpt: Badlands is an interesting tale loosely based on a real event as an early 20's fellow gets involved with a 15 year old girl only to turn deadly because he had nothing better to do. The movie is very well made and performed featuring some fantastic mid-western locals. Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek pair well enough together to make this one a nice mellow dramatic tale of young lustful love with a Bonnie & Clyde sort of mentality.

Excerpt: Great film with another terrific transfer by Criterion. The desolate landscapes really come to life on blu-ray especially if you have access to a big screen. The recent interviews with Sheen & Spacek were also a nice bonus since Malik never gives any himself. I also thought it was really cool that some of the music in Badlands was also used in True Romance 20 years later. Highly Recommended!
The wide open spaces of Badlands look amazing on Blu-ray.

Excerpt: The Criterion Blu-ray of Terrence Malick's Badlands goes above and beyond my old Warner DVD of this movie in terms of picture quality and audio presentation. My jaw dropped when I watched one particular scene where Holly's father is painting an elaborate billboard with the wide open spaces of empty landscape in the background.
Summary: I found that movie on DVD although I knew nothing about it. Since I really liked the acting of Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now, I gave Badlands a go and was not disappointed. Nowadays it is a rare feeling when you are not American to be nostalgic about American cinema. Fantastic picture all the way.
Summary: This is one of the best directoral debuts ever. It is about a young couple in the late 1950's that go on a killing spree. It is based on a true story. Martin Sheen imitates and looks just like James Dean. It observes human nature in a way that can interesting and cruel. This is a true masterpiece.
