Summary: Very overrated and uninteresting. Is a victim, like many other modern films of thinking that its cleverer and more original and a lot more interesting than it really is. There are numerous quirky elements but they just come across as weird and dull rather than interesting. The final half of the movie involves a rather pointless game of cat and mouse that just becomes tedious.
Summary: My favourite film of all time. Its funny, engaging, heart warming, engrossing, sweet, sad and just a happy little film that brings me back every time to the memory of my first watch- where i left the house and could not stop smiling. Through this film the world seemed a better place. A def film to see before you die. I read this review of Amelie which i couldnt agree more to- quite simply, its perfect.
Excerpt: This is a lovely film. Very funny in parts and always on the right side of charming. Having not seen this at the cinema Im not sure what the correct colour palette should look like, the film is soft focus and unnatural colours in places, but I presume that is how the film was intended.. Audio is very good. Definitely recommended.
Summary: Audrey Tautou is excellent in this movie. I like her as an actress but I have to say that her role in this movie is different from what one would expect to see. The plot is interesting but the story is surrealist. Amelie likes to meddle with everybody's life but she is incapable to face her own. Nonetheless, she does have a good heart and it shows throughout. Not a movie for everyone due to some of the content. It could be worse! You need to try and judge for yourself.
Summary: A brilliant film which I highly recommend! Full of wonderful characters, beautiful scenes, camera-work and dialogue. My 15 year old son wasn't going to watch it as didn't want to read the French sub-titles, but in the end he watched it all completely mesmerised and intrigued! Watch it - you won't regret it!
Excerpt: I sure love this movie. I watched it years ago for the very first time and liked it. I recently found it at my local store and decided to bring it home. I absolutely loved this movie. The decors are great, Audrey sets a great character with Amélie, who is really playful and dreamy. The soundtrack fits in perfectly with the movie. The one main small issue I have is that the picture could be a little more crisp. Colours are very lively, however.
Excerpt: Love this film - one of my favourites. Audio quality is superb; video can be a little soft (although I suspect this if more to do with the stylistic choice of the director rather than the Blu-ray transfer).
