Excerpt: Recommended. Note: "Apollo 13" was a visually satisfying theatrical experience. However, like most of the Studio's other Blu-ray releases, this disc is hampered at times by Universal's ugly trademark digital manipulation. Nevertheless, the transfer is still acceptable (and much better than DVD predecessors), and actually looks quite good at times, so my guess is that fans will probably find it worth purchasing.
Excerpt: A downfall to creating a film based off of well known true events is that the conclusion is spoiled, therefore, leaving little in the conclusion that is unexpected. Therefore, these kinds of films tend to rely more on the journey to provide the emotional umph, then the actual conclusion. When the film is made to be suspenseful, this doesn't always work so well. Films like Valkyrie shows us how this can fail. Films like Apollo 13 shows us how it can work.
Great storyline if only it was directed properly!!

Excerpt: I'll be frank with you all, the only reason i ever gave this film a second thought was due to Jason Stathum being in it. After watching the film it wasn't even worth it even for his performance which wasn't much of one. I was a little confused by the beginning of the storyline here. Guy is an electrician for one of the players of a secret game.
Summary: A dramatic true to life film of various individuals with a goal consisting of astronaut Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Ken Mattingly (Gary Sinise), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton), Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) and Apollo 13 Flight Director Gene Kranz (Ed Harris). The movie kind of drags because it consists of trainings, technical jargon's and accidents. Performances all around were solid while the score and special effects made it entertaining.
Excerpt: Ron Howard's Oscar winning "Apollo 13" is competently made in every aspect. Masterful cinematography by the now legendary Dean Cundey and flawless editing solidify "Apollo 13" as the American history classic it is today. With fine tuned performances from Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan; brining an intensely human side to the scientific proceedings, "Apollo 13" is thrilling, inspiring and uplifting.
Summary: A simple, violent version of Russian roulette is played by 13 players with huge amounts of money involved. Patrick Jefferson broke out of jail and was involved competition. Vincent "Vince" Ferro survives the game and meets an unexpected surprise. Drama was solid and the whole premise was simple with touches of vengeance and chance. Had good camera movements, a decent soundtrack but didn't have much action.
