Summary: Well I got this Yammy yesterday and popped it into my system to check it out and see what it does. I like another reviewer bought this mainly as an Universal 'Audio' player for SACD's. One surprise is that, although there is only ONE reference to it in the manual, It plays AND decodes HDCD's! Yes that's right, HDCD's. I don't know why Yamaha downplays this but it's a HUGE plus to us who have and really like the sound of HDCD'S.
Excerpt: Nothing to complain about. I have it hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V677. Setup went smooth and easy. I haven't had time to try out all of the features on it, but what I have tried out worked great. I'm 100 percent satisfied with the player and will recommend it to everyone looking in this price range.
An Audio Review of the Yamaha BD-S677 Blu-ray Player

Summary: I am very pleased with this Yamaha BD-S677BL Blu-Ray Player . I am NOT using it for playing Blu-ray discs or DVDs. I am using it strictly as an audio player for Super Audio CDs. I think that some people may think that my reason for purchasing this device is silly but, if you're interested, please read on. I have three audio systems.
Summary: It is a pretty good Players but quite often I have to pull the Power Plug because the unit locks up. I have seen this in several Players and it maybe because it is Multi Regional. I have not seen this in single region players.
Summary: Performance is good but not great. I bought this particular player because of it's ability to stream FLAC files wirelessly from my media server. That part works, but the app is worthless for that functionality. App definitely needs to be enhanced greatly before I could wholeheartedly endorse.
Excerpt: Attaching the product to your equipment only involves connecting a HDMI cord and plugging it in. The setup menu is also very simple. You just have to know the shape and resolution of your TV screen (probably 16: 9 and 1080p). As far as SACDs are concerned you need to decide if you want the multi channeled ones played with all channels or reduced to two. If you know your login information the network services are simple with one exception.
Pros: Excellent Sacd Player, Great sound, Simple operation
