Excerpt: Bought as primarily an 'analog' CD player, the Yamaha BD-S677 has, in my estimation, been abnormally exceptional in a sea of mediocrity its audio reproduction of both CDs and SACDs. This is my first Yamaha product purchased in 30++ years of chasing home audio reproduction. It's a winner.
Bought it for the SACD playback function, love it for Blu-Ray

Summary: I bought the BD-677 because it's a nearly-universal disc player (it doesn't play DVD-A, but it plays just about everything else) that cost far less than most of the universal players out there, and I have a small collection of SACDs that were gathering dust.
