Great player

Mike, Amazon
25 April 2014
  • Summary: Player as expected. Amazing sound from the analog outputs. I compared the sound of the player (A-B test) with the sound from top of the line PS audio DAC, and in most cases the sound was identical. Also great picture, but you can judge that the player was designed with audio as top priority, and they succeeded very well.

Top notch player, plays anything

Brian_F, Amazon
18 January 2014
  • Summary: I got this as part of a DYI home theater system. It plays everything. I sold it on Craigslist because it was more than I needed. Yamaha stuff is the best high end consumer brand.

Nice

Steve, ABT Electronics
24 October 2013
  • Summary: Bought this unit for 5.1 music on SACD and DVD-A. It's a huge sonic improvement over the previous player. My only complaint is that you can't darken the front panel display, which is a big surprise and disappointment.
  • Cons: Can't Turn Off Display

Not Bad

Mike - Imaginative Homes, ABT Electronics
19 September 2013
  • Summary: Image quality and sound quality are very good. Setup is easy. Downside is that it locks up occasionally when shutting off requiring me to hold the physical power button. Power up and other features are slow. Netflix is slow to bring up initially, and does not give you feedback for a period of time which can be confusing. Yamaha's Netflix user interface needs work. Need support for Hulu...
  • Pros: DVD Upconversion, Easy Set-Up, Excellent Image Quality, Good Soundtrack Support
  • Cons: Slow Load Time

It's OK

Ron, ABT Electronics
12 August 2013
  • Summary: It's ok. My OPPO died so I needed something quick to replace it. My receiver is an Advantage 2000 so I went with the 1020. I've only had one case of freeze up. A couple of times upon powering down the player the BYE light stays on forcing me to unplug the player for a minute or two. Other than that it does the job.
  • Pros: DVD Upconversion, Easy Set-Up, Excellent Image Quality, Good Connections, Good Soundtrack Support

Just What I Needed

Alan A., Amazon
6 August 2013
  • Summary: Please understand that this Blu-Ray player has only briefly been connected to any TV monitor. I have no opinion of its ability to play movies. I bought it only so that I could play SACDs and home-burned DVD-ROMs containing high resolution (96kHz x 24bit FLAC) audio download files in my living room. I am very pleased with its sound. I had earlier bought an Oppo BDP-103 for use playing music and DVDs in the bedroom.

It's OK but...

Jim's, ABT Electronics
22 June 2013
  • Summary: I bought this when I upgraded to a Yamaha, high end receiver. I'm happy with the receiver, but can't find anything this DVD player can do better than my much cheaper Samsung player. Yes it streams Netflix, but so did the cheaper unit. It does link with the Yamaha receiver, but I still need two remotes.
  • Pros: Good Image, Good Power Output
  • Cons: Expected More, Pricier Than Competitors
