  • Summary: I was replacing my five-year-old $20 DVD player and decided to upgrade to this internet-ready Blu Ray model. It would have been a lot less frustrating to stick with the low-budget one. This thing has been nightmare, although admittedly, it was pretty easy to set up. The internet connection is horribly slow (even though the WiFi in my house is fine) and often needs to be reset, and alternately there's either sound with no video or video with no sound.

  • Summary: This was the worst purchase we have had from Amazon. The sound constantly goes out for no reason, bluerays take forever to load, and it makes a loud noise when it operates.

Buyer Beware

  • Summary: My wife and I purchased this item in late October (2011) and finally hooked it up and started using it in mid November. The first thing you should know is that it does not come with an HDMI cable. Plan on purchasing one separately. We sort of expected that so it wasn't a big deal. The hook up was a piece of cake and we had no trouble connecting the device to our wireless home network.

  • Summary: As of yesterday I gave the Player to Goodwill ...........After serveral months...I had enough. I did not have connection problems or Video Streaming problems at all .......My main problem was the player freezing up when you tried to fast forward videos ......Also it would not play some old non Blu-Ray videos that worked on all my other DVD players. Once in a while it would get confused and not accept commands and had to be unplugged and restarted.

  • Summary: I got this player to play Netflix on it. Worked good for the first few months I was excited about the wireless feature that works great, I have tried Utube on it and that was a slow nightmare. after a year now it almost always starts a movie with no picture just sound or it will play/pause like im playing with the remote.

Not a good player at all.

  • Excerpt: Would freeze up during every third movie. When it did work, it did provide a good picture. It did provide a good picture with both dvd and blu-ray. But it would also freeze up on every third movie played. Some movies it would freeze up multiple times. There was no problem with any of the discs, no scratches, etc. Had to continually turn the player off and reboot.

Built in WI-FI receiver poor quality

  • Summary: I am updating my review to 4 stars. We have been using a relayed wireless internet service provider. It seems that the signal has a flutter which many apps can smooth out by advanced buffering techniques. My laptop handles this fine. Either the Vizio player or the Amazon Prime app (or both) do not have intelligent buffering and thus must continually re-load. Today I switched ISP's to a DSL internet service. The Vizio player now works perfectly. It doesn't stop.

What on earth is wrong with the thing!

  • Summary: To be clear, this was a gift that did not come from Amazon. But am wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting the thing to actually play a DVD? Mine comes on, flips off, does this for a bunch of times, and when it FINALLY comes on, it does fine. I am now coming in 20 minutes early just to turn the thing on, so it can do its little tantrum and then deign to work. Hate the thing. So disappointed. Wish I had kept my old cheap one.

Don't waste your money

  • Summary: I bought this in July from a big-box store. Right out of the box it had issues- it would freeze and stop responding to any buttons on the remote or machine. Silly me, I called customer support rather than returning it to the store. Customer support had me reset the player, every time I'd call. I'd reset it, it would work for a day or two, then do the same freeze/not respond thing. So I'd call again... You get the picture.
