Toshiba BDX5200

PC Magazine

  • Conclusion: It's not perfect, but a robust feature set, fast performance, and a reasonable price tag make the Toshiba BDX5200 one of the better under-$200 Blu-ray players you can buy.
  • Pros: Inexpensive. Fast BD-Live disc playback. Integrated Wi-Fi. 3D. Good noise reduction.
  • Cons: Slight judder under certain rare conditions. No component video or optical audio outputs. Interface feels a bit sluggish.

Toshiba BDX5200

CNET
25 November 2011
  • Summary: The Toshiba BDX5200 costs a little less than competing midrange Blu-ray players, but you'll miss out on worthwhile extra features and speedy performance.
  • Cons: Competing Blu-ray players have more streaming media services and more features, including DLNA compatibility and smartphone control. The BDX5200 is also considerably slower than other midrange players, especially at disc-loading. We also experienced spotty Wi-Fi performance in our testing environment.
