Good picture and sound, a few shortcomings

S. Pawley, Amazon
11 February 2013
  • Summary: Considering the price, this machine delivers the essentials, with only a handful of drawbacks. Set up is very easy, especially for disc playback, although no HDMI cable is supplied, which seems a bit mean as they are fairly cheap (on the other hand, this means you can easily get your own). A very useful function (for me, at least), is the ability to play media files from a USB device.

Sub standard player

Amazon Customer, Amazon
24 November 2012
  • Summary: I've had the unit about 18 months now and it's just gone belly up. It's obviously not a high end device based on it's pricing and being my first Blu Ray player I don't really have anything to compare it to but it was slow to start up and really noisy. Picture quality was just OK and I detected picture lag on fast moving elements in the movies I played.

A Good Budget Blu-Ray Player

  • Excerpt: Into The Blu ========= Since Blu-Ray has become the standard for high definition optical media the prices of the players has been quite rapidly declining. It's now possible to get a decent Blu-Ray player at sub £100 prices. I had been resisting Blu-Ray for quite a while but now the prices have come down I have taken the plunge. I looked at a number of players and decided on the Toshiba as it had all the features I was looking for and goes nicely with my Toshiba TV.

BDX2100 Toshiba blu-ray player

Jag., Amazon
12 March 2012
  • Summary: Arrived quicker than expected. It is a very easy machine to work. Blu-ray discs are superb, especially the wild life ones. I paid £99.99 and was annoyed when 2 days later it had gone down in price to £79. Just my bad timing I suppose. However, it is a good machine and I can reccommend it..

Updated review

M. A. Smith, Amazon
29 February 2012
  • Summary: Not really used it that much in the 13 months ive had it, watched about a dozen or so movies on it in all that time and now its dead in the water. Burning smell came from it whilst my missus was watching a dvd she had bought and now it wont switch on. Don't you just hate it when things pack in just out of warranty, im sure they make em not to last these days. Need to find out if its got a 2 year warranty but i very much doubt it. Wont buy Toshiba again.

Great value for money

Ian, Amazon

  • Summary: Great player, excellent picture & sound quality. DVD picture upscaling is amazingly good, and I am rediscovering my old DVD collection. If you just want a good 2D Blue Ray player to replace a DVD player this is perfect.

Toshiba Blue ray disc player

Bobby, Amazon
6 May 2011
  • Summary: Looked for a basic Blue ray player to go with HD TV recently purchased. As the TV was Toshiba it was logical to get a player of the same make. By doing so, am able to use the same remote. As others have reported, it is a bit noisy when loading/unloading, but when playing you don't hear it working. However, have now found that there are now other Toshiba Blue Ray players on the market for £20 less !!!
