Summary: I just bought this Toshiba Blue Ray disc/DVD player BDX1300KU apparently "Region Free DVD" . It is suppose to play back DVDs from Regions 1-8. On the Box of the product it has that it is "Region 1" but,it also has 2 stickers that says: REGION FREE DVD Plays regions 1-8 Zone A blu ray and the other sticker says: XOOOJHOTK1 Toshiba BDX1300 Region Free DVD and Blu Ray player new. It does NOT play back DVDs with regions other than Region 1.
Summary: I cannot speak about the Toshiba BDX 1300 simply because I order a FREE REGION FREE ZONE BD / DVD and that was not what I received. Probably the unit is good but the information is MISLEADING. If you read the reviews which I sadly read after ordering; I am not the only person that received an unit that do not delivers what was promised.
Summary: Taking the advice from other reviewers, I checked the player itself inside of the VERY damaged box. The box had the correct model number (BDX1300) but the booklet and the player had BDX1300KU and a region 1 symbol on it. All numbers or ABC should be listed and it's definitely not region free. I hate the process of returns and I should have listened to the bad reviews!
Summary: I purchased this unit, advertised as REGION FREE. Sold by: MoneySaving Deals, fulfilled by Amazon June 2013. What I got was NOT region free. I contacted Amazon and returned it for a refund. Their rep promised to have the incorrect advertising corrected.
Summary: Despite ordering this twice, it appears that this product is NOT region free--at least in the US. Can't speak for anything else about it,since I returned it both times. I ended up sticking with my old non-blu ray DVD player from Japan. If anyone in US is able to receive this product region-free from Amazon, please post.
Summary: I bought this as we moved back to the US after a few years in the UK and wanted to play DVD's we bought there etc. Have changed the region to UK and it will not play any UK DVD's - keeps telling me that it is the "wrong" region. A Google search tells me that I am not the first lots of others with same problem. Very unhappy indeed.
Summary: I purchased this item a month ago and it was great! So I thought I'd buy one for a friend. I bought the same model from Amazon. This one is NOT region free!! It's a piece of crap. I wouldn't be so upset but Toshiba customer service is non existent. Pathetic. You call and get a website to go to and then have to pay $30.00 to have a tech "help". I'm returning this piece of crap to Amazon but hesitant about buying another one as I may have have the same problem.
