Excerpt: I bought this Blu-ray player during a very awesome sale since I needed my first blu-ray player to play my blu-ray movies. The player is simple, easy to use, and does its job fairly well. I would say that the player is more of a budget gadget if you are looking for a blu-ray player to start of with. The player comes with a remote, which offers quite a bit of functionality and still straight-forward to be able to figure out.

Excerpt: The first time we watched a Blu-Ray on this Sylvania Blu-Ray player, we were impressed. But what really caught our attention the second time we watched the same movie was that the Blu-Ray player recognized the movie! At the start menu, it asked us, "This movie has been watched before. Would you like to continue where you left off?" and it gave you the option to click yes, and continue where you stopped, or click no, and move to the main menu.

Excerpt: I am not very knowledgable about technical things, and I don't have a lot of money. This player was very reasonable priced, and easy to hook up to my TV. I have had it for about a year, and have had no problems.
Summary: I purchased this blu-ray player at the end of March. By the end of July it would no longer play blu-ray disks. I contacts sustomer service who stated I probably needed a firmware update. I downloaded the update and installed it on my player. This did not correct the problem. I called again and was told that sometimes downloaded updates do not work and they would mail me out a disk. This disk took almost 2 weeks to arrive.
Summary: This blu ray dvd player is fantastic! We have watched Half-Blood Prince, Transformers 1 & 2, Star Trek, and Hellboy 2 on this player. You can absolutely tell the difference between watching these movies on a regular dvd as opposed to blu-ray. This player has full 1080p output, HDMI and VGA outputs, easy setup as well as a pip function. I would recommend this player to anyone as a great starter blu-ray player.
Summary: This Blu-ray player was a steal at the $62 refurb price I paid for it. The picture quality is great. It does onboard decoding of the new lossless audio codecs (DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD). The load time isn't too bad for a blu-ray player either. All and all this was a super purchase.
Summary: For the price, this player is a great entry-level blu-ray player. I had been looking to upgrade from an upconverting DVD player when Blu-ray players dropped $100. While missing the frills of the newest players (e.g., Netflix streaming, Pandora, BD live, etc.), my player has handled everything I've thrown at it. It upconverts DVDs well, and the picture quality on Blu-ray disks is great.
Summary: It's been 3 months since I bought this item. I did not use it that much. Mostly with Netflix movies when I have some time on the weekends. Load time for Blu Ray discs is painful. Now, after the full refund time was due, all of the sudden the sound is giving me intermmitent problems when using HDMI connection, sometimes the signal give me a screen full of green lines like if I was connected to the Matrix or something(how cool is that!
Summary: I received this Blu-Ray player free with purchase of my LCD flat planel TV, so it was a no-brainer for me to get it. As others have said, it is a very basic player and I totally agree with the comments (slow to load BDs, pain to download/install firmware updates, no internet connectivity). Having said that, I've had mine for 10 months and use it very frequently, with absolutely no problems to date. If you can get it for $60.
Summary: I bought this player for $60 at Amazon and it works as a blu-ray player. However (1) You must download the firmware update and burn it for this player. (2) In order to view the top menu of a dvd/blu-ray disk you must stop playing the disk! (3) Player does not display that it is connected to a 5.1 channel receiver (Yamaha YSP-4000) although it does output 5.1 data.
