"It kinda works, I have no buyer's remorse."

  • Pros: Ties everything together - almost. Would recommend it to anyone who does not have internet connectivity through their bluray or tv. Everybody seems to be selling it for 199. My kids like it.
  • Cons: Unclear if this will continue to be developed. Marketplace has been added but Flash is reporting this device as unsupported.

Great device but needs improvement

Huidong Li, Amazon

  • Summary: I've been using this Sony box for a couple of weeks now and I like it a lot, especially how it integrates with my Dish TV programming and DVR. For the new $199 price tag, this thing is well worth the money for what you get. I chose this GTV unit over the logitech revue mainly because of the remote. I just thought it would be awkward to constantly holding a full-szie keyboard when I'm watching TV. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1. The integration with TV Set-top boxes.

James Mark Matulka, Vanns

  • Excerpt: For a less than stellar techy this product is what you want. So far I have been very pleased with the ease of operability and small size. I am just amazed at what this product has done additionally to just watching television. I highly recommend this product.

Until there's something better

  • Summary: I agree that there are too many 1 star reviews. Depending on what you want this may not be the device for you. I would give this 3.5 stars but since that isn't an option.. Pros: Works out of the box. Plays .mkv files off media or streamed from your network. Nice bluray player and plays non-region coded PAL DVDs. Cons: No manual. It may be an Android device but I defy you to find a manual. You won't be able to do all that you think you can and should be able to.

"Device compatibility sux,only 4 gigs,no antivirus avail"

lxsmq1975, CNET

  • Pros: Has Neat Apps for media streaming and music, comes in very handy when your computer is down if your using it just to surf the net & email and simple stuff like that. Of course excellent for watching movies!
  • Cons: Its a pretty pricey gadget for the limited capabilities it has as for downloading & saving files and its compatibility w/ other electronic devices (ex: av receivers, non HDMI TV's, home theatre systems etc) sucks. I'd do some research B4 buying it

OK,HAS MAJOR ISSUES

FRANK MAURIELL0, Amazon
9 March 2011
  • Summary: I bought this unit when it first came out.For what I bought it for it does fill the slot.I bought it primarily so I wouldn't have to use my computer for hours on end to listen to music, search the web,pay bills and watch movies. To this end it pretty much does the job. However, there are major issues that are frustrating. They should have field tested this more before putting it out on the market. Many times it will freeze on a webpage and you have to unplug it to get out of...

So-so product. Ridiculous price point.

GaryPen "Nobody you know", Amazon

  • Summary: Overall, this is a pretty disappointing product. If this wasn't a Christmas gift from an employer, and we actually paid the full 400 bucks, we'd be majorly PO'd. Here are the cons: -The keyboard/remote is too small for the number of keys, which means the keys are tiny, similar to a smartphone qwerty keypad.

Needs some fine-tuning

Lllamaesque, Amazon
27 December 2010
  • Summary: I never considered buying one of these things, but recently received it as a gift. Overall, it's a step up from the Roku box I've been using for the past few years--you can use it to web surf and watch many online videos, in addition to easily run apps like Netflix, Amazon video on-demand, and Pandora. Even though most of this was available on the Roku, the menu structures are way better on Sony Internet TV and they provide a lot more information much more quickly.
