Summary: I had an lg bluray before with a hard drive that would stream wirelessly from my computer with no additional setup or software. with this unit I had to download and install a dnla server "Serviio" to get it to stream from my computer. If LG can eliminate the need for that additional software, so can Sony!
Summary: The dnla connectivity feature is great for viewing video, pictures from another computer. Wirelessly connect to netflex, pandora, and amazon prime or amazon video works good and easy to find content. There quite a few apps for viewing most of them won't be used and to find something takes a lot of effort. and have only had it drop out once in a month but at that time other devices lost the connection to. So it isn't the player.
Summary: The DVD experience is as good as on any other DVD player. It's hooked into my 5.1 sound system, and its performance and compatibility in that area are fine. Nice that it controls the Sony HDTV, so you only have to hit one remote. On the other hand, the Sony HDTV remote controls it, too, except that the OPTIONS button results in a different menu. I use the wireless networking features extensively, even though I did not intend to prior to purchase.
Summary: At first I had trouble getting my music files to stream, but that was because they were ripped to WMA. None of the techs at Sony could figure out was wrong, (even though I told them the files were WMA). But since then my music collection has been ripped to MP3 and it all works beautifully. Also, it doesn't support Airplay. I wish there was a shuffle feature though and a way to incorporate a visualization.
Summary: This is a great player with two very irritating items of note. Number 1 - the remote has an inner and outer circle in the center which controls different functions. These circles are right next to each other and if you have large fingers or are not very careful you will be continually hitting the wrong button. the control buttons are very sensitive and this is very annoying. You should be able to control a remote without looking at it after awhile.
Summary: I bought this item a week ago and it plays DVD and Blu-ray very well, but the DLNA is lacking when streaming from Windows 7 or any DLNA server for that matter. There is no way to fast forward more then 3 seconds at a time in a movie that you are streaming. When streaming music from a DLNA server there is no selection for random playing like you have in the Sony TV models.
