Summary: It has a bit of a handshake issue with my Receiver when I turn it on (some light, white fuzziness) but it clears up after a few seconds. This problem could be the Receiver, HDMI cable, or possibly the Disc Player (I think it is the Disc Player), but otherwise it works great.

Summary: Nice unit, could have a better build quality for the price, but the money went into the video processing. Excellent results with 4k up sampling on both bluray and streaming. I can see why 4k in the next step.

Summary: Was really excited to get this, after playing 2-3 blue rays they started to freeze after about 45 minutes of play, I am an ex avionics tech, so I bought a $5 fan and now can watch a marathon star wars/harry potter/LOTR and no freezing up or any issues.
Summary: I originally wrote this review back in August but I put it under BDP-S590 so I am moving it here where it belongs. Since I wrote the review the Blu-Ray completely failed and I had to ship it to Sony at my own cost even though it was under warranty. Sony's return policy is bad.
I like the Sony features and especially the internet streaming function

Summary: After my Samsung blu ray quit playing blurays I purchased this Sony. What a difference. Sony updates the firmware often enough that it plays any new DVD that comes out. The old one didn't get updates but every six months or so and many DVDs just won't play in it.
but this one in my opinion is one of the best ones I have every owned

Summary: There maybe other blue-ray players on the market, but this one in my opinion is one of the best ones I have every owned. So may features and have 3 of these, two older and one newer and never had any issue. Nice work Sony as this is good bench mark of what a blue-player should be.
Summary: I purchased this player with great trepidation as I do not make a habit of purchasing Sony components. I thought it would be an interim player that might be adequate until I could afford an Oppo, Marantz or Denon player.
Summary: Pros: Plays DVD, Blu-ray and streaming services. Upscales DVDs. Works nicely with Sony TVs. Plenty of menu options. Cons: Runs some streaming services through a Sony proxy and degrades the quality of your experience.
