Excerpt: Purchased this for my wife for Christmas. Have had it now for 4 months and it has worked flawlessly. Plays all burned disks, regular DVD and Blu rays. Flawlessly. Also the Wi-Fi works great and have been using it to watch netflix and Amazon Prime movies and TV series. Shoot we probably use it more for that than watching Blu Rays.
Pros: Plays everything I put in it. Easy Setup. Simple menu. Built in WI-FI Capability. Great Picture.
Cons: No component output. But it does have HDMI out. No other negatives found.
Summary: The Sony S590 is another excellent Blu ray player from Sony. Fast load times, excellent Audio and Video and its loaded to the gills with apps and features you probably wont have the time use. The deal breaker for me was the inclusion of Vudu my favorite streaming site. You cant find a better Blu ray player for the money in my book.
Pros: Excellent Video and Audio, Fast load times, Great Streaming.
Summary: I bought this player as a replacement for my S570. It was easy to set up right out of the box and was up and running fast. This player has internet features galore from Netflix, Vudu, Hulu Plus you name it it has it. The PQ quality was outstanding as was the Audio and 3D performance was excellent as well. This player is worth every penny and a must have. Another nice job from Sony.
Summary: This is the second one that I purchased. I cannot find it on the shelf anymore so I got it through Amazon. It not only works with the latest TVs but also the old analog TVs. I highly recommend this player.
Summary: First step for any modern electronic device, update your firmware. My initial update took over 5 minutes. I also recommend registering at internet.sony.tv as in the past some Sony products won't connect to certain services until you do. I connected to AmazonVideo on Demand and Netflix, BEFORE I registered it, so they may have responded to complaints and dropped the requirement, but incase there is a service that require it get it out of the way, it only takes a minute if...
Pros: Great picture and sound quality, excellent streaming,, Works very fast when skipping chapters or loading a scene from menu,, Media Remote app for Android worked very well,, Navigating apps is smooth and quick,, Very user friendly.
Cons: Build quality doesn't feel as sturdy,, It does not come with an HDMI.
Summary: The load times are maybe only 20-30 seconds longer than the Panasonic BDT220. I've had both. I was having issues with Netflix Audio lag on the 220 and I think OVERALL, this is a superior player.
Pros: GUI is easy to navigate, Netflix runs perfectly, Zillions of Apps, Nice, solid unit.
Cons: A little slower than the Panny BDT 220. I returned the 220 for this.
Summary: Above reviewer is full of it. Player runs Netflix just fine for me. Player is set up in my bedroom with an Apple TV and Roku and I am getting a stronger Wifi connection with the Blu-ray player versus the other two devices. The last Samsung Blu-ray player I bought had limited file compatibility and no access to Movies unlimited (Sony exclusive) and the Wifi was spotty at best. Plus Sony's player has a demo channel for 3D content.
Pros: Nice design. Greeat app selection, good Wifi connection, 3d demo channel and access to Sony Movies and Music unlimited.
Cons: UI is a littel more clutter then Apple TV but if you have ever used a PS3 you'll be fine.
