Summary: Comments about Sony BDP-S570 Network Media Player: This was so east to setup and the picture quality is fantastic. The best picture our TV has had. We did not know it could look so good and it is so easy to use. I like the ability to connect to net. I gave it as a gift to my husband and we are pleased.
Pros: Backwards Compatible, DVD Upconversion, Easy Set-Up, Excellent Image Quality, Good Connections, Good Soundtrack Support, Upgradeable
Summary: This player is everything you could want and then some. I was going to buy a blue ray player for Xmas when I began my search. Then after reading I discovered that I could, for a few dollars more, get internet access to my Netflix account. Hey, why not, I thought. I bought this player after spending a couple of hour reading others' reviews and boy am I thankful to all that wrote them. This player is the tops IMHO!
Nice Blu Ray player, but beware of streaming gotchas.

Summary: As a Blu Ray player, it does the job perfectly well. Excellent picture quality, and nice flexibility in sound output. That said, I see this player getting ripped up and down for streaming. I feel as though this is a bit unfair, and as an IT guy, let me explain the issue. I personally have my player hardwired to my router; I do not use the wireless. Still, the wireless should work fine, assuming there isn't too much distance between the player and the wireless router.
Summary: This also, is my 1st Blu-Ray player ... which I purchased mainly for Wireless Netflix streaming. I am quite pleased so far and highly recommend this player for it's features and price point. The device is quite small and lightweight, about 1/2 the size of my (now obsolete) Toshiba HD-DVD player. The unit starts-up quickly; 30 seconds faster than the HD-DVD player... The OSD is overwhelming at first; but is logically organized, simple to navigate and modern in appearance.
Summary: This disc player met all my objectives. It was easy to install, had the appropriate features, and with a wireless signal shown as 30% (because of the distance, more on that later) worked well. The only feature I had problems with was DLNA which was important to me. I wanted to be able to show my pictures from my computer on the tv. I called Sony customer care and after a while I was able to convince the first line agent to eventually send me to a second level one.
Summary: This is a great Blu-ray WIFI N player. Easy to setup and connected to WIFI and internet with Pushbutton feature on the router. NASD(media server) auto connected and was able to browse music, photos, and videos. Interface is much faster than the Samsung 6900 and about $100 less expensive. Currently watching Netflix Season 3 of 24-flawless. The only feature that I could recommend to Sony if they are reading this is to add a media player to build playlists.
Summary: I bought this DVD player primarily because my Sony BDP-S350 wouldn't recognize a blu-ray disk I authored with SONY Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10. I was very frustrated because I intended to create at least 40 more family DVD's. Also this DVD I authored played in other SONY players that were older than the BDP-S350! Anyway I have been very happy with it and appreciate the built-in Wi-Fi capabilities and its ability to stream video.
Summary: This is my first Blu-ray player. I waited three years for the price to come down and the profiles to reach a stable 2.0. The Sony BDP-S570 has everything I wanted. It is as fast as the top rated Oppo BDP-83 and one third the cost if you include the Oppo wireless bridge. The only player to compare it to in price and features is the Panasonic DMP-BD85 that seems to have mixed reviews.
I like the wireless but really you should use the Ethernet connection

Summary: The unit is fantastic! If you wanting a wireless set up this is the way to go. All the specs are right on and it performs exactly as promised. The only issue was not a Sony issue it was on me. Make sure your router is located in an optimal location and that your Internet speed is high enough for true streaming. We had to upgrade a little which I had expected.
