Summary: We purchased this player mostly to watch Netflix. For that it has been fine. What has prompted me to give a poor review, however, is that I realized that Sony has intentionally prevented several file formats (e.g., MPEG-4) from being playable through my home network (DLNA).
Summary: If you only want to watch discs, this is fine. If you want to stream content, look elsewhere.
Pros: Picture quality is great.
Cons: I got this player primarily so I could stream Netflix to my TV. It would constantly fall off of my wifi network in the middle of a show or movie, and I would have to reset the network settings or restart the player to get it back up. Cons: Like many others posted already, forget watching Netflix movies, it is a constant rebuffering show. With 5 bars reception and netflix streaming fine on every other device, this player can not do it! Also the menus are weird and its loaded with Sony things that have highest priority (streaming/mov...
Summary: We opted for this player instead of getting another Roku when our dvd player started acting up. If you do not need a dvd player then just get Roku player. The interface with this player is very poor.
Pros: Wireless blue ray 149.00 at best buy 1 yr warranty better picture
Cons: Netflix interface Lame channels No Rhapsody Channel More problematic trying to set up compared to Roku
Summary: There are lots of factors in streaming netflix instant videos: Netflix servers, your Internet bandwidth (both to your house and the traffic on your network at home), and the quality of your wireless connection (if you are using one).
Pros: Plays Blu-ray flawlessly, quick start-up
Cons: Instant Netflix streaming very poor. Read "other thoughts"
Summary: I don't recommend this player to anyone who wants to use it to stream content from Netflix. The problem is that it disconnects from the Internet if streaming is paused for even a couple of minutes. It did this to me repeatedly over a week.
