Summary: I have had a ton of problems with Blu-Ray players. Cheap players just don't get it, but higher cost doesn't seem to matter. I have tried several different brands between $50 and $125, but none have remained in service. Even cheap players have all kinds of gewgaws that you may or may not want for Internet connection. Some can be annoying. That said, this Sony player has been doing nicely for several weeks.
Summary: Simple design, set up much like a playstation and seems to work well. My one complaint: it only has an eject and power button on unit. I really hate these electronics companies trend in omitting the buttons from the actual unit and making you dependent on the remote to use the item. HELLO, remotes get lost, than the item is worthless.
Excerpt: I bought a higher end Pioneer BDP-23FD when Blu-Ray first came out and it took forever to startup and to load Blu-Ray discs. The Sony BDP-S5200 beats that old machine hands down. Extremely fast start and it allows you to set fast startup as a priority in the settings. Everything is good except I wish it had the old RCA stereo output for audio. Although I do not use that for my main sound, I do use RCA output for another zone I have setup for my patio.
Pros: Compact, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Start Load, High Quality Picture
Summary: Works exceptionally well. The wireless internet interface with Netflix, Amazin, Pandora works very well. Quick loading of discs, VERY low profile - you will not be disappointed with this purchase.
Summary: Everything works as described.....only one problem that I'm having and that is trying to play BD-R LTH discs. Manual states that the unit plays them but it doesn't. It shows the files on the disc but when you try to play them it says the file is corrupt or unsupported. Tried the disc in my computer and it works fine....other than that the unit plays other discs just fine.
Summary: very small unit, top oddly shaped so you will not be stacking components on top - nor would it be smart to try due to the light weight construction. Features are good, start up easy. HDMI output only, will not work with older equipment as is if you have no HDMI input. Using it for Netflix and it loads quickly. Did not have the cast feature I thought was included, but I did read rather quickly on the specs initially. Did not link with my Android 4.3 phone though.
